NOISECREEP has issued the following:

Later this month, New York City hardcore vets Madball will be issuing a special EP entitled Rebellion. The 6-song affair features four new tracks and newly recorded versions of two cuts from the band’s legendary 1989 7″, Ball of Destruction. “I was 12 when we did that original recording, and I don’t have the best memory when it comes to a lot of things, but I do remember that session,” Madball vocalist Freddy Cricien tells Noisecreep, walking us down memory lane.

“We recorded Ball of Destruction at Don Fury’s studio on 2-tracks, live, with no overdubs. You went there, paid him a few hundred dollars and bang everything out. That session had me, Vinnie Stigma (Agnostic Front) on guitars, my brother Roger (Miret, Agnostic Front) on bass and Will Shepler (ex-Agnostic Front) on drums. We also had Craig Setari (Sick of it All) and Mark Ryan (Supertouch) on backing vocals. As gritty as the original recording was, it was cool to be able to go in and re-record a couple of the tracks (“Get Out,” “It’s My Life”) for this new EP,” says Cricien.

Cricien then reveals the inspiration behind “The Beast,” one of the four new tracks Madball recorded for Rebellion: “That one is about going through the trauma of an anxiety attack. It’s something a lot of us have unfortunately have had to deal with, me included. It’s a different kind of song, lyrically, for Madball, but it’s just like anything else we’ve written about… it’s very real.”

Check out Noisecreep’s exclusive premiere of “The Beast” HERE.

Madball’s Rebellion EP will be released digitally on June 14 and vinyl later in the month via The BNB Label.

Track listing:

1. “Reap What You Sow”
2. “The Beast”
3. “Get Out” (Ball of Destruction re-recording)
4. “Rebellion”
5. “My Blood”
6. “It’s My Life” (Ball of Destruction re-recording)

Legendary mastering engineer George Marino, who has worked on such multi-platinum projects as METALLICA‘s “Metallica”, AC/DC‘s “Highway To Hell”, GUNS N’ ROSES“Appetite For Destruction” and BON JOVI‘s “Slippery When Wet”, has died after a year-long battle with lung cancer. George started as a musician, playing rock n’ roll guitar in New York City bands. His first job in the industry was as a librarian and assistant at Capitol Studios in 1967. He then apprenticed in the mastering department, helping cut rock, pop, jazz and classical albums. Out now all over Europe, the 11-track long player Monolith Of Inhumanity is an achievement that stands out as one of the most volatile, ambitious, and impossible-to-pigeonhole records of 2012.

Commended by Stereokiller in an early review for being “their most focused and intelligent album yet… this is another solid CATTLE DECAP release that proves again that they are not to be fucked with,” and noted for being “arguably the quartet’s strongest effort to date,” by Blistering, the record was produced by Dave Otero of Denver’s Flatline Audio and finds the progressive grind conjurers exploring innovative new techniques in song writing without abandoning their signature formula of confrontational audio wreckage.

After a successful month of spearheading photo shoots with MESHUGGAH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, MISS MAY I, DRAGONFORCE, OVERKILL, WATAIN, BEHEMOTH, BARONESS, and THE AGONIST, completing two back-to-back magazine cover shoots (Outburn and Hails & Horns), all the while having one cover already on shelves (Hails & Horns), photographer Jeremy Saffer will head out to Los Angeles for his first West Coast music photography seminar in conjunction with SoundCheck Hollywood.

The two-day seminar and workshop will focus on portrait work with musicians and will cover the entire process — from setting up the photo shoot, scouting locations, posing, different types of lighting and lighting equipment for different situations, shooting endorsements, promotional images, CD layouts, and magazine layouts, to walking attendees through the process of what to do post-shoot, invoicing, getting repeat business, and even how to price yourself. Many other business aspects of being a professional photographer within the music industry will be discussed.

The first day will be the official seminar day, where all of the above is taught in the morning, as well as a lightroom and photoshop post processing tutorial. In the afternoon of day one, attendees will complete mock-photo shoots experimenting with different types of lighting equipment, lighting set-ups, poses, etc. Jeremy has also expanded the music photography business section even more, and will also include private portfolio critique for attendees that specifically request it.

On the second day of the seminar, attendees will experience a hands-on photo shoot of special guest bands done first by Jeremy (as a real-life example), and next by themselves! Attendees will take over and complete a real photo shoot with the band in various locations.

Hopeful attendees must act now; there are only 10 tickets available to this seminar!

On June 23 at 6 p.m., SoundCheck Hollywood will re-open to the public. Jeremy will be on site signing copies of his book “Bring The Noise”, as well as limited-edition prints and some prints exclusive to the seminar weekend.
