ABSU has announced details on their upcoming tour, titled North American Connexus Conjuration. The 26-city tour will see the band perform two full sets with music spanning their 20-year recording career. It is the first full tour by the Texas-based mythological occult trio since the release of Abzu, the second of a planned trilogy of recordings.

Vocalist/drummer Proscriptor shares: “Since the release of our latest recording, Abzu, the response has been extremely vehement and now is the perfect moment to commemorate the album’s essence throughout North America. We purposely waited until the timing was ideal to embark on this journey, as we shall contaminate the communities with our craft of Mythological Occult Metal. We’re attempting to divide the concerts into two sections: the first act will showcase songs spanning from our entire discography, as the second act will focus on Phase Two from the album Tara: The Cythrául Klan’s Scrutiny. For the past couple of years, many of Absu’s followers have requested specified songs from this chapter of Tara, so it is our aspiration to give the people what they want.”

Abzu, the band’s seventh studio album, was released October 2010. The album was mixed by J.T. Longoria (KING DIAMOND/SOLITUDE AETERNUS) and features original works by Polish artist Zbigniew Bielak (WATAIN, BEHEMOTH, DESTROYER 666, VADER). Proscriptor commented, “With this record, we are appending dirtier elements of psychedelia and fusion. Lyrically, it descends deeper into Enki’s lower world as well the Enochian Magic(k) System.” He added, “This album is not a ‘natural progression’ from previous releases, but a feat of metaphysical conquest and murkiness.”

NeeCee Agency has issued as follows:

Mythological occult metal discoverers ABSU will embark on the European Connexus Continuation Tour in March.

Stated ABSU vocalist/drummer Proscriptor on the tour name: “The explanation behind the name of the tour is because we have already toured Europe in April of last year, which was called ‘European Connexus Conjuration Tour.’ In other words, this is second chapter where ABSU left off.”

The band promises us “Magic(k), Mystery and Mythology!” As for the set list Proscriptor adds: “We prefer to equally distribute songs from the entire discography of ABSU, so the wonderful manaics of Europe can expect old and new material. We like to cater to old and new fans of ABSU, so that is our main objective.”

After the upcoming European tour, ABSU will have an immense tour throughout North America, as it will solely be ABSU and local support acts only. In June, the band will be performing at Hellfest in France, Graspop in Belgium and a few select shows in Eastern Europe and Israel. Afterwards, they will painstakingly concentrate on delivering the next album: Apsu.

Graspop Metal Meeting 2013 is already shaping up to be a vintage edition of Belgium’s premier metal festival.

“Following the confirmation of headliners Iron Maiden for Sunday 30 June, we are pleased to announce another 22 names for next year’s festival: In Flames, Stone Sour, Parkway Drive, Saxon, Coal Chamber, Epica, Kreator, Mayhem, The Devil Wears Prada, Dark Funeral, Absu, God Seed, Every Time I Die, Winterfylleth, Lock Up, Aura Noir, After The Burial, Dunderbeist, Between The Buried And Me, Bullet, Heaven’s Basement, Hacktivist.

About the new names:
In Flames has been a GMM favourite for as long as we can remember and contrary to many other bands in the business, these guys don’t need a breather and just keep forging ahead. Their 2011 release ‘Sounds of a Playground Fading’ confirmed the band’s shift to the more poppy side of metal with clean vocals and more synthesizers. The album catapulted In Flames into the big leagues, as illustrated by their triumphant gig at this summer’s Lokerse Feesten.

Mayhem is probably the band with the most turbulent and eventful past ever to play our festival. The lives of these pioneers of Norwegian black metal are inextricably tied up with murder, suicide, substance abuse and violence, but let’s be honest here: black metal is not for the faint of heart.
Dark metal fans will be glad to hear Dark Funeral, Winterfylleth, Aura Noir, God Seed and Absu have also been confirmed for GMM2013.

With seven GMM appearances to their credit, Saxon are a household name at our festival. Their 8th GMM show promises to be a memorable occasion because the Barnsley lads are bringing their full Eagle Show.

This year marks Epica’s 10th anniversary and what better way to celebrate than with the band’s 6th GMM appearance? The band offers a blend of symphonic metal, death metal and gothic metal so there’s something for everyone here. We’re expecting fireworks both on and off stage for this one!

Mille Petrozza and Kreator have been shattering eardrums for over thirty years now and like wine, Kreator’s music just seems to get better with age. Their previous GMM set was one of the most memorable performances of GMM2011 so it’s great to have them back. Look forward to a mix of tracks from 2012’s ‘Phantom Antichrist’ album and thrash classics like ‘Flag of Hate’ and ‘Pleasure to Kill’. Thrash metal across the generations…

INFERNO 2012 Festival has issued the following update:

The legendary pioneers of true Norwegian Black Metal TSJUDER and the American occult extreme metal band ABSU will hit the INFERNO stage in 2012!

LogoTsjuder crawled up from beneath anno 1993. Their intention was to create the rawest form of Black Metal, and continue that for the lifetime of the band. The line-up has shifted through the years but the permanent line-up came with Anti-Christian joining original members Nag and Draugluin in 2000.

The band is known worldwide for their uncompromising Black Metal. Inspired by bands like Celtic Frost, Darkthrone, Kreator and Sodom the main composers Nag and Draugluin developed TSJUDERs distinctive sound which made the band legendary.

In December 2005 Tsjuder held its last concert, and the band was put on ice. But in 2009, with hardly anyone knowing, the band started playing together again. Nag and Draugluin gained lots of new inspiration and made the new album, “Legion Helvete” which will be released this October! When these legendary pioneers of true Norwegian Black Metal enters the INFERNO stage they will make history!

LogoThe music of ABSU has been described as mysterious, majestic, magical, powerful and progressive, but the band has always declared the sound to be classified as “mythological occult metal.” This style of supernatural music has earned ABSU a strong following, yet a cult-like status around the world. Their talent to combine the right amounts of extreme metal music with progressive overtones, and solid songs with magnificent showmanship, has merited the respect of fellow musicians and followers alike.

ABSU initially spawned in Dallas, Texas in 1989 under the first name Dolmen and later changed the name to the present, due to their vast attraction towards Sumerian/Mesopotamian mythology. The line-up has been varied but today the bands members are: Proscriptor McGovern (Russley Randell Givens) – Drums & Percussion, Lead Vocals, Mellotron, Lyrics, Arrangements, Ezezu (Paul Williamson) – Bass, Vocals and Vis Crom (Matt Moore) – Guitars. In February the band made a six date US tour with Immortal. After this tour, Absu entered the studio to record their next album, titled ‘Abzu’ which will be released this fall 2011. Get ready for occult metal when ABSU enters the stage at INFERNO this year!
