As previously reported, on December 12th BLACK SABBATH – The Vinyl Collection: 1970 – 1978 is being released as a limited edition box-set celebrating the iconic albums featuring the full original Black Sabbath lineup.

Black Sabbath Online has learned more details about the release as follows:

- the package was remastered again by Andy Pearce in 24bit for the 2012 vinyl project – he was responsible for Sabbath’s 2008-2010 remaster release series by Universal.

- there are no plans to release the 2012 Remastering on CD; this is for just the vinyl/digital project.

- inside the box will be a voucher that will let you download the entire box set in a digital format. Given the sale of the box will be for everywhere else except North America, it is assumed the voucher download won’t work in North America.

- there are no plans at this time to release the vinyl albums individually.

- the package is a limited edition (just under 10,000 units) and once its gone its gone.

In the interview footage below, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi talks with Eric Blair about being a cancer survivor , The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, progress on the new Black Sabbath album, Rick Rubin, Bill Ward, and his fondest memories of RONNIE JAMES DIO.

When asked about progress on new Black Sabbath material and reports that he has laid down guitar for 15 new songs, he responds, “I know that, but that’s wrong. When Ozzy (Osbourne) said it, I think he meant what we’d done… we’d written the 15 songs and we played them all. But now, at the moment, we’re recording them. We recorded them at first, at my house in England, just as demos, but now we’re doing them for real. So, we’re about six tracks in now, at the moment.”
