After one year of the latest realize Emerge, the Bejelit are back with lots of news: first of all the change of the line-up: after 10 years, for own personal reasons, Bejelit say goodbye to their historical bass guitar player Giorgio Novarino, wishing him every good affection for his future. The new entry in the band is the young Luca Negro, already bass guitar player of The Ritual and of the deathcore band Hatetyler, who has already shared the stage with Bejelit during several dates of the Emerge Tour 2012.

Polish death/thrash metal band INSET was founded by Dariusz Kaczorowski (ex. Ad patres / Pulsating noise) and Pawel Adamowicz (ex. Poltergeist). The duel’s first task was to complete the crew and then accomplish the incomplete records; the result being their first EP with Michal ‘MiK’ Magiera (ex. Formis / Exiled / Melancholy), Bartosz ‘Junior’ Kaczorowski and Bartlomiej Kaniewski.

Since few months, the band has begun performing live very intensely in the whole country, with the death/thrash and progressive elements being a constant feature of their play.

Artist: Hologram Earth
Album: EP
Label: Self Published
Release Date: 5th November 2012

Track list:

1. Facing Creation
2. The Labyrinth
3. Graveyard Planet
4. Dichotomized

Hologram Earth is a 5 piece progressive metal band from Amsterdam founded in September 2011. This EP is the bands first release and I can honestly say that it is a solid record.

The first track called ‘Facing Creation‘ is really heavy and had me instantly moving my head. After a short phasing drum roll you are greeted with a beastly death growl and this is the best way to describe the vocals on this EP as a whole. Nice warm textures created by the guitars and bass and very balanced sounding in the mix. At around 2 minutes the time signature dramatically changes which keeps you wondering what comes next. At 2 mins 30 you will hear a really deep and heavy bass line after a short break. At 3 minutes the song breaks into a melodic and atmospheric guitar solo, superbly played and beautifully defined guitar tone. Throughout this track the heavy guitar chugging will keep your head nodding.
Straight into the second track called ‘The Labyrinth‘ which opens with a distorted chord progression backed by Luuk van der Velden‘s signature Tom rolls. Following the intro is a satisfying sludgy guitar riff which frequently breaks down into a quirky sounding bass part. At 2 minutes you’ll hear a screaming guitar solo which adds a beautiful atmosphere. What comes next is a really pleasant surprise – brass instruments layered with guitars adding some more mysterious atmosphere to the song. I really enjoyed this song and would say it is the most progressive sounding on the EP.

The third track called ‘Graveyard Planet‘ opens with heavy syncopated riffs following a really strange time signature. Again you get that really heavy sludgy style of guitar playing with the occasional accented pinch harmonics. At just over the 2 minute mark the track breaks down into a really peaceful section with beautiful soft bass line; this is quickly interrupted with more brutality in the form of Michiel Meurs vocals. At around 4 minutes you will hear a cool old school guitar riff that seems to evolve into a completely different track. Overall a very cleverly written song.
The fourth song called ‘Dichotomised‘ opens with Asian sounding Tabla drumming which gradually gets replaced with a full drum kit playing a similar Asian pattern; this is done to great effect and it proves the skill and versatility of the drummer. The guitar riffs are relentless on this track and dispersed with ambient dissonant chords. The middle part of the song is really different; at 3 minutes it breaks down to a crackling loop followed by a mysterious resolving chord, I really wasn’t expecting this but it shows the song writer is full of ideas. The guitar solo comes in at 5 minutes and is full of screaming harmonic dive bombs, really expressive playing which I loved. Then the track suddenly ends on a mysterious note leaving a warm fuzzy feeling inside me.

Overall this EP is awesome. Very accomplished playing and the production is crystal clear. The song writing is intelligent yet full of catchy and memorable moments. I will most certainly come back to this EP for more listening enjoyment and look forward to hearing new releases from this great band.

FRESNO MEDIA has issued as follows:

Brooklyn’s legendary hardcore punk outfit, Yuppicide, is proud to announce the release of its first studio album in 14 years, ‘American Oblivion’ EP, out today via Dead City Records. ‘American Oblivion’ can be purchased as a limited-edition CD or 12” vinyl with color booklet including lyrics, rare photos, art and more via the Dead City webstore at this location, and digitally through iTunes at:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/american-oblivion-ep/id559897765
.

“Even when the band was apart, I wrote songs for Yuppicide: I’d hear Jesse’s voice or Joe’s bass,” said Yuppicide guitarist and founding member, Steve Karp. “Once we started working with new drummer Jay, the reunited band got back into songwriting mode quickly and almost too easily – like we never stopped. ‘American Oblivion’ is our very best effort yet, and sums up all our hard work since forming way back in 1988.”

1. Dead Inside
2. Too Late
3. There’s a Line
4. American Oblivion
5. Flies On…
6. Not With You

Yuppicide will play a CD release show on Sunday, September 30th at St. Vitus in Brooklyn, N.Y. to commemorate the release.

Energized both by the warm reception of the band’s commemorative 2010 double CD, ’88-’98 Anthology, and the permanent addition of Jay “Gringo Starr” Rogan on drums, ‘American Oblivion’ was recorded by NYHC fixture, Glen Lorieo, at Manhattan’s, Night Owl Studios. The result is a raw blast of everything Yuppicide is best known for: speed, intensity, drive, sincerity and a dogged determination to carving its own path through the punk/hardcore world.

The record’s title track is currently streaming on Bandcamp: http://yuppicide.bandcamp.com/ for a small taste of the new effort.

Yuppicide, a mainstay in New York’s revitalized hardcore scene during the 1990’s, is one of the preeminent bands to rise from the era. The band went on to unleash three full-length studio records, with the last, Dead Man Walking, releasing in 1995. Once a staple of the New York hardcore scene, Yuppicide is now considered a legend and an influence to countless bands worldwide.

Stay tuned for more information on Yuppicide and ‘American Oblivion’ EP.

Acclaimed Swedish heavy metal vocalist Christian Älvestam (SOLUTION .45, MISERATION, TORCHBEARER, SCAR SYMMETRY) will release his new solo EP, “Self 2.0″, on October 19 through all major web-retail outlets and streaming services via Pivotal Rockordings.

“Self 2.0″ is something different than what fans may expect from the singer/songwriter. Älvestam explains: “It’s not exactly a secret that I have a weak spot for more pop-oriented stuff — especially in the vein of the sound of the ’80s. In fact, I have always been listening to softer music, alongside the heavier stuff, which is probably why my own music so often, unintentionally, tends to end up being a mixture of the two. I simply can’t help myself when it comes to merging the aforesaid styles together, it seems. I’d like to call it unavoidable influence, as a direct result of having been indoctrinated with both, from childhood upwards.

“With that said, fighting against it is not an easy thing, whether you want to or not. At the same time, some would call it a mixed blessing I guess.

“Anyhow, I wanted to do something a bit different from what I usually do for a long time now and that is to make an all stripped-down and laid-back album, where I use my clean vocals only.

“Those who have followed me since the early days know I’ve made brief digressions, musically, of that sort before, like the ‘Final State’ trilogy (UNMOORED) and ‘Lethean Tears’ (SOLUTION .45), to name a few, so it’s not like ‘Self 2.0′ is me heading out into completely unexplored territory. I’ve been there before, grubbing in its periphery. Then again, I guess you could see ‘Self 2.0′ as me going all the way for the first time, if you like!”

The first single from “Self 2.0″, a song called “Once Adreamed”, can be streamed HERE.

“Self 2.0″ track listing:
01. Once Adreamed
02. Time To Let Go
03. Origins

Team ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC has issued the following:

Italian progressive metallers DESPITE EXILE have set the release date for their upcoming Re-Evolve EP on May 15.  The band has just finished a new video for their song “Mechanical” – stay tuned, as this video is a very interesting one!

DESPITE EXILE – Re-Evolve Tracklisting
1. Oscillate:

2. Perfection Neutralized:

3. Mechanical: coming soon . . .

DESPITE EXILE Bio
One of the fastest growing bands in 2012, Italy’s DESPITE EXILE continues to impress with their unique brand of progressive deathcore.  After the fast success of their 2011 debut, Scarlet Reverie, the band wasted no time to get back in the studio to create the absolutely stunning release, Re-Evolve!

While it’s quite a tease for only being a 3 song EP, each respective song packs its own mega punch.  The lead track “Oscillate” was exclusively premiered via Got-Djent.com, and received much praise for DESPITE EXILE’s unique onslaught of progressive/technical metal with memorable melodies.  The 2nd track, “Perfection Neutralized”, saw its exclusive debut in form of a music video via BlankTV, which has already seen 21,000+ views and counting.  Some dub the video as the best BlankTV upload in months.  Last but not least is the album closer “Mechanical”, which is one of the most melodic songs the band has written, but don’t let the prettiness fool you as there are still plenty of razor sharp riffs, crushing breakdowns, and blast beats galore.  Re-Evolve surely shows DESPITE EXILE up there with the big dogs.

DESPITE EXILE are keeping their momentum at high, and expect these Italians to be one of the big name stories of 2012 and beyond…
