Hammerfest 5: Announces More Acts Including German Thrash Lgends SODOM

Hammerfest 5 (In Fear of the Dragon) is pleased to announce that Germany’s finest thrash/black metal  act SODOM will join next Spring’s already well received bumper packed line-up, which already features the likes of HATEBREED, ENSLAVED, DESTRUCTION, IRON SAVIOUR, HUNTRESS, NAPALM DEATH, M-PIRE OF EVIL, SENSER and EVIL SCARECROW to name a few.

SODOM are considered as being one of the big three Teutonic thrash metal acts alongside DESTRUCTION (who are also confirmed for next Springs event), they are also felt by many to not only of greatly influenced Death Metal but also heavily influenced many late eighties and early nineties black metal bands too.

We are  also pleased to welcome Dutch Viking folk Metallers HEIDEVOLK to next spring’s Hammerfest, who bring their own unique beer swilling blend of enjoyable yet aggressive folk metal riffage to the proceedings.

Now if that’s not enough for you, we are similarly stoked to announce that one of the hottest female fronted acts in Europe Swedish Heavy Metal act SISTER SIN are also jetting in for a one-off Hammerfest special performance.

Other acts just confirmed and added to this weekend’s announcement include fretboard favourites Sacred Mother Tongue featuring renowned guitarist Andy James and Italy’s favourite thrashers ARTHEMIS featuring shred metal guitarist Andrea Martongelli. Who will win the battle of the Fretboards? You decide?

 

Finally to round off this week’s announcement we have also confirmed  Flayed Disciple, Absolver , Line of Fire 

and No Hammerfest would be complete without our resident house band Oaf.

MORTAD: Video Highlights Of HAMMERFEST Performance

Video highlights of MORTAD‘s performance at this year’s Hammerfest, which was held March 15-18, 2012 in Prestatyn, North Wales, can be seen below.

MORTAD will enter the studio in November with producer Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR, EVILE) to begin recording its sophomore album for a 2013 release.

MORTAD‘s debut CD, “The Myth Of Purity”, was made available last month with the February 2012 issue of Metal Hammer magazine and will receive a more “official” release later in the year. The album was recorded last October with Russ Russell.

MORTAD was formed in 2009 by Iranian vocalist Somi Arian , whose lyrics take aim at the hypocrisy of religion and the government as well as seeking inner truth and strength in the face of such oppression.

MORTAD released a music video and an EP, entitled “Pandemic Paranoia”, in early 2011. This effort brought the band immense attention on the social media sites, placing the group as the No. 1 metal band on ReverbNation London metal chart, and attracting over 40,000 Facebook fans.

MORTAD‘s “Waste Of My Rage” video was sponsored by the Alchemy apparel clothing brand and produced by the Manchester-based video production company Video Ink. More than a dozen actors were cast for the clip, including Collette Von Tora, who agreed to have her head shaved for this video shoot.
