“Very happy to announce that Jeff Scott Soto Official will be singing on my debut US solo shows this October!

American rock singer Jeff Scott Soto has recently announced via a post (including a photo which can be seen below) on his official Facebook page that he got a copyright infringement complain from Yngwie Malmsteen Management. Jeff was the vocalist on Yngwie Malmsteen‘s first two albums.
“Just got a copyright infringement complain from Malmsteen Management on my YouTube page for a video shot on MY camera appearing with Official Yngwie Malmsteen in Nov 2000 of me singing with him for his encore!..for a song I wrote ALL the lyrics to except for the title itself therefore have publishing entitlement to.” stated Jeff Scott Sotto. “Now after meeting many fans in different countries on this current tour who griped that Yngwie would not sign ANY of HIS albums that already had my signature on them was one thing but after this, I truly must fire 2 middle fingers at these folks! I have been celebrating my life and career including some of these songs but I have such a bad taste in my mouth, I feel like pulling them from the set from the remaining 2 shows…this is just childish, juvenile behavior, something I don’t deserve and have NO clue or reason to be treated like this.“
Mr Sotto also commented: “I will from this day forward erase anything good to say about my time there, if you ever have to ask if all the rumors are true, ask no more!“

Jeff Scott Soto started his career back in 1984 at the ripe age of 18 years old with the 1st international incarnation of Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force. This year, he celebrates 30 years of his musical path (Yngwie, Talisman, Journey, Axel Rudi Pell, Rock Star) by hitting Europe at some of the premier festivals and a selection of club dates by revisiting the favorites of his life.
Adds Jeff “The past 10 years or so I have been concentrating on my solo career but at my shows, I still get audience members shouting out songs from my past that they want to hear…well, this is the chance for them to finally hear these songs and more!”.
Jeff announced via his official Facebook page:
“Here you go folks, a European celebration (yet limited run, it is summertime when its mostly festival season so the dates in between are to keep us from sitting around all week in between the bigger shows) of my life. Before you all start whining and complaining that I am not doing your country/city, the in between dates were made out of convenience of where we will be for the festival dates
There are some more we’re waiting on but sadly the UK and Scandinavia will not be included, its simply too costly to move us and gear around since this is NOT a proper tour. Anyway, I look forward to everyone typing in their city that’s missing but it won’t change anything, we’re coming where we’re coming so do me a huge favor, come out and celebrate with us if u can!”
Along with his latest line up including Jorge Salan (guitar), BJ (guitar/keys), David Z (bass) and Edu Cominato (drums), the setlist will include most of the mentioned bands that Jeff has not performed songs from live in many years. GMM 2014 Crew has announced, via the Official Website, the first 51 bands for Graspop Metal Meeting 2014:
Graspop Metal Meeting 2014 is still 204 days away but already it’s looking to be a vintage edition! For one thing, 2014 will go down in GMM history as the year we were finally able to realise our plans for a second main stage! Sitting shoulder to shoulder, main stage 1 and main stage 2 will feature the top bands and household names in our GMM2014 lineup. The Marquee and the Metal Dome create a more intimate setting and we’re also erecting an open air stage in the Metal Plaza where fresh metal talent can earn their GMM spurs.
A second main stage means even more metal fun. Our 2014 lineup will feature more than 100 bands on five stages and today we’re proud to reveal the first 51 names for next summer.
The living legends from BLACK SABBATH need no introduction. Two years ago, unforeseen circumstances forced them to cancel but this year they’re back to reclaim their rightful GMM throne. Black Sabbath will close the festival on Sunday 29th June. These guys are widely hailed as the pioneers of a musical genre that has stood the test of time and is still immensely popular after more than 40 years. Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and figurehead Ozzy Osbourne have finally buried the hatchet and the renewed collaboration with the craziest frontman in metal resulted in ‘13’, one of the best and most surprising comeback albums of the year. The album marks the triumphant return to form of the band responsible for countless classics such as ‘N.I.B.’, War Pigs’, ‘Iron Man’ and of course the inevitable ‘Paranoid’.
Five years ago VOLBEAT played in the Marquee, two years later they rocked the main stage and this year they’re coming back as (one of) the biggest European rock-’n-roll/heavy metal band(s) to headline Main Stage 1 on Saturday 28 June. Their Johnny Cash-inspired music has brought them to the world’s biggest stages and their music even appeals to a mainstream audience. Just five albums into their stellar career Volbeat are on top of the world. Perhaps things are going a bit too fast? Well, hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide can tell you the answer to that one. So roll up your sleeves and warm up those vocal chords because the guitar gangsters are coming home to Graspop Metal Meeting!
AVENGED SEVENFOLD may well turn out to be the youngest ever headliners on Graspop Metal Meeting. With two previous GMM appearances under their belt they’ve really hit the jackpot this time because they get to close Main Stage 1 on Friday 27th June. Their previous European tour in late 2013 made it obvious that Avenged Sevenfold, or A7X for short, are among the top dogs of the new metal generation.
SABATON have also proven on numerous occasions that the main stage is their natural habitat. Joakim Brodén’s power metal quintet will once again transform the Dessel plains into a no man’s land to rival the Westhoek. The Swedes recently released their ‘Swedish Empire Live’ DVD and the same boundless energy captured on that live recording will result in another GMM victory next summer. Only singer Brodén and bassist Sundström remain of the previous lineup, but the new Sabaton lineup has meanwhile matured into a well-oiled machine and is ready for yet another Primo Victoria!
Confirmed band so far are:
BLACK SABBATH, VOLBEAT, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, SABATON, SOUNDGARDEN, ALTER BRIDGE, OPETH, HATEBREED, CARCASS, W.A.S.P., NEUROSIS, GRAVEYARD, METAL CHURCH, WATAIN, PARADISE LOST, UNIDA, DEATH (dta), THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, DORO, ANNIHILATOR, BRING ME THE HORIZON, ELUVEITIE, TIAMAT, LEGION OF THE DAMNED, CULT OF LUNA, ORANGE GOBLIN, COMEBACK KID, CYNIC, WE CAME AS ROMANS, EMMURE, KYLESA, POWERWOLF, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, TRIPTYKON, ALESTORM, NAPALM DEATH, WALLS OF JERICHO, ENSLAVED, SKYHARBOR, GLORYHAMMER, PRO-PAIN, BLESSTHEFALL, HUNTRESS, NAILS, SOLSTAFIR, JEFF SCOTT SOTO, PRIME CIRCLE, NECROPHOBIC, THE TREATMENT, BATTLECROSS, CROSSFAITH
Vocalist JEFF SCOTT SOTO (TALISMAN, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA) is featured in a new interview with Greece-based Rock Overdose. An excerpt from the discussion is available below:
RockOverdose.gr: You first came into prominence during your stint with YNGWIE MALMSTEEN. It surely has been quite some time since then, but what are your memories from back then?
Jeff Scott Soto: “It was a great time but also one that has a lot of discolored memories as well. I learned more than I expected so soon after joining him, and I mean that in a negative way! The business is ugly already, so the people you surround yourself with should be ones who have your back and that you can trust…not any fault to Yngwie, but he was pretty much in it for himself we as his backup band were helpless sidemen with no chance for growing or making something of ourselves while we were with him. Clearly you can see why I left so soon after starting with him, even at 19 years old, I knew I had so much more to offer as an artist.”
