ANTHRAX singer Joey Belladonna joined STEEL PANTHER on stage last night (Wednesday, November 7) at O2 Academy in Newcastle, England to perform a cover version of the JOURNEY classic “Don’t Stop Believin’”. Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

Belladonna regularly performs JOURNEY classics with his Syracuse, New York-based power trio CHIEF BIG WAY in which he plays drums and sings.

In a 2005 interview with MusicDish, Belladonna was asked about the rumor that he came to the table with a JOURNEY tune during his 1985 audition for ANTHRAX. “Actually, what happened was I went into the room and they said, ‘Just go on in,’ and they hadn’t heard me sing” he said. “They’d heard of me and they asked me to come in, but we were going in to start tracking and stuff, to get the mic set up and all that and they said, ‘Let’s get you in there and get you warmed up.’ I hit the mic and belted out some JOURNEY. . . I think it was [the song] ‘Lights’. I didn’t know what the hell I was getting into in the first place. I just wanted to lay some vocals or something. Just to kinda give an idea and that’s what happened. It wasn’t really anything more than that. I just kinda belched it out. I think I did ‘Oh Sherrie’ [written by JOURNEY singer Steve Perry], too, or something. I dunno why, but I just did. It was something off the top of my head I could do a cappella and it was kinda challenging. I thought maybe in range or something that would be kind of intriguing. It was definitely one they weren’t expecting.”

ANTHRAX recently spent time in the studio recording several cover versions of some of their favorite rock classics — including JOURNEY‘s “Keep On Runnin’” — to be made available on the upcoming re-release of the band’s latest album, “Worship Music”.

On July 9, the Honorable Dennis Hupp, Circuit Court Judge for Warren County, Virginia, dismissed with prejudice Tareq Salahi‘s $50 million dollar lawsuit against the rock band JOURNEY and lead guitarist Neal Schon.

After having his initial complaint dismissed on April 13 for failure to state a claim, Salahi hired a new attorney and attempted to repackage what has been described by Schon‘s publicist as a “legally and factually deficient complaint.” However, after a two-hour hearing, Salahi‘s amended complaint was, yet again, dismissed — this time with prejudice.

Spearheading the successful legal efforts of Schon and JOURNEY were Bruce Blanchard, Esq. and Stephen Cobb, Esq., shareholders in the litigation group at the Virginia law firm of Odin, Feldman, & Pittleman P.C.

Upon the dismissal of the amended complaint with prejudice, Blanchard remarked, “As we have said all along, this case did not have a basis in law or in fact and was not worthy of the Court’s time.” Cobb added, ‘[This] is more than a win for our clients, it is a victory for common sense.”

Schon is currently prepping for the July 11-12 video shoot for the title track from his new solo album, “The Calling”, which is due to be released later this month.

MÖTLEY CRÜE, RUSH and JOURNEY are among the artists who have made Billboard magazine’s Music’s Top 40 Money Makers 2012 list. The sixth annual Money Makers ranking is based on U.S. income sources, ranking artists based upon how much each of them earned in 2011 from a variety of income streams, including touring, recorded-music sales, publishing royalties and payments from an array of digital services. The calculations were based on each artist’s U.S. net earnings, not gross revenue. Due to a lack of sufficient data, the figures do not include revenue from sponsorships, merchandise sales or synchronization deals.

Hard rock artists included on the list:

07. BON JOVI – $19,813,232
12. JOURNEY – $12,313,822
31. FOO FIGHTERS – $6,013,257
32. RUSH – $5,819,304
38. MÖTLEY CRÜE – $5,376,272

According to StatesmanJournal.com, JOURNEY drummer Deen Castronovo was ordered to perform 80 hours of community service and attend anger-management classes as part of a plea deal in connection with a domestic-violence incident last month. Castronovo‘s booking photo can be seen below.

The 47-year-old musician was charged with recklessly endangering another person, interfering with making a police report, second-degree criminal mischief and harassment.

Castronovo was arrested on January 21 for allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend. TMZ.com reported that Castronovo “also received additional charges when he took the phone away from the woman while she was trying to call her father.”

The woman told police that she and Castronovo had been involved in a three-year relationship, but split up about four weeks prior to the altercation.

A representative of Castronovo‘s claimed the altercation was “a misunderstanding that should not have been escalated to such a level in the first place.”

JOURNEY was honored with the Legend Of Live award, a lifetime achievement award, at the eighth annual Billboard Touring Awards, held Thursday night (November 10) at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York.

According to Billboard.biz, Live Nation president of North American Concerts Bob Roux saluted JOURNEY as the ultimate road warriors. And JOURNEY‘s Neal Schon and Ross Valory paid tribute to the whole reason the concert industry exists — the fans.

“This last year was by far the best,” said JOURNEY co-founder Schon, the only member of JOURNEY who has been in the band for its entire 38-year existence. “It’s all about the fans, all about the music. We’ve always been about the performance, writing good songs. Arnel Pineda brought us back into the forefront, really regenerated us. There’s really no end to it. We have worked our asses off this year.”

The Billboard Touring Awards, hosted by former MTV VJ Matt Pinfield, were created to celebrate and stress the importance of the too-often overlooked movers and shakers in the increasingly-important world of touring, promotion and performance.
