MOTÖRHEAD is turning it up to 11 on February 1 with the release of Sacrifice Shiraz Bag-in-Box. This is the world’s first Bag-in-Box for the rock ‘n’ roll world… and it ain’t any old box either! Modelled to look exactly like a guitar amplifier, this is a unique, iconic packaging from “the world’s loudest band” that unreservedly demands its place on the wine shelf.

“Can you decorate your rock’n'roll table with something better? No, I would not believe so,” says Mikkey Dee, MOTÖRHEAD‘s drummer.

“About 60 percent of the wine consumed in Sweden is from Bag-in-Box, which makes Sweden the world’s largest consumer of box wine. Naturally we want to provide the rock fans the same range of packaging choice,” says Yvonne Wener, head of Brands For Fans.

As previously reported, MOTÖRHEAD‘s signature wine — which made its debut in Sweden in 2010 — has sold more than 300,000 bottles since it was launched.

The Australian Shiraz has been carefully selected by the hard rock legends and has been described as a wine with a fruity aroma, flavors of vanilla, blackberries, plums, eucalyptus and liquorice, but with soft rounded tannins. Or, as Lemmy Kilmister, lead singer, bass player and founder of the band, puts it: “My advice is — approach it with caution. I mean, wine is deceptive, anything can happen.”

Grammy-award winners MOTÖRHEAD are Lemmy Kilmister (bass and vocals), Phil Campbell (guitar) and Mikkey Dee (drums). Formed in 1975, the band has released a total of 21 studio albums. The band’s most recent album, “The Wörld Is Yours”, was released in February 2011, while two deluxe live albums/DVDs titled “The Wörld Is Ours” volumes 1 & 2 were released to huge acclaim in 2012.

MOTÖRHEAD has been forced to cancel tonight’s (Tuesday, December 11) concert in Kempten, Germany after the band’s frontman, Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister, came down with the flu.

MOTÖRHEAD will enter the studio in January with longtime producer Cameron Webb to begin recording its next album for a mid-2013 release. “We’ll go into the rehearsal room about a month before the album and just bang stuff out,” Lemmy told Billboard.com.

In a recent interview with Artisan News, MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee stated about the band’s plans for a new CD, “We have a lot of songs done already. It’s not finished. We’re gonna keep writing and we’ll record it next year, and it will come out next year.”

MOTÖRHEAD released “The Wörld Is Ours – Vol 2: Anyplace Crazy As Anywhere Else” in Germany on September 21, three days later in the rest of Europe and October 9 in North America via UDR/EMI. The follow-up to 2011′s “The Wörld Is Ours – Vol 1: Everywhere Further Than Everyplace Else” features the band’s 2011 Wacken Open Air headline appearance as well as highlights from Sonisphere (United Kingdom) and Rock In Rio (Brazil) shows.

MOTÖRHEAD‘s latest album “The Wörld Is Yours”, sold 7,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 94 on The Billboard 200 chart.
