Nuclear Blast Records have announced the following:
San Francisco Bay Area metallers FORBIDDEN have “likely seen [their] last days as a recording band,” according to their guitarist, Craig Locicero. “[Drummer] Sasha [Horn] and [guitarist] Steve [Smyth] came through like champs last year when we had every intention to write and record our next record,” he continues. “We started working on some INSANELY cool stuff! But alas, real life stepped in. Matt [Camacho, bass] has retired from music and Russ [Anderson, vocals] simply has no fire or desire to do the work it takes to get back to relevancy. It is a tough road; ask DEATH ANGEL. But they committed to it and I commend them. Russ just does not have the fire at his stage of life. I must respect that.”
FORBIDDEN‘s latest album, “Omega Wave”, was released in Europe on October 22, 2010 and in North America on October 26, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD landed at position No. 27 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
Locicero is currently focusing all his attention on SPIRALARMS, the San Francisco Bay Area-based heavy rock band also featuring Tim Narducci (ex-SYSTEMATIC) on vocals, Chris “Cornbread” Lombardo on bass, Brad Barth on keyboards, Anthony Traslavina on rhythm guitar and Ron Redeen (THE ESSENESS PROJECT) on drums.
SPIRALARMS‘ sophomore album, “Freedom”, will be released later in the year.
Nuclear Blast Records have announced the following:
“The Living Infinite“, the ninth studio album and first double album release by Swedish melodic death metal maestros SOILWORK, will be unleashed on February 27th in Asia (via license to Marquee Records), in Europe on March 1st, and in North America on March 5th.
Produced by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, BLOODBATH), “The Living Infinite” features artwork by MNEMIC’s Mircea Gabriel Eftemie who shares:
“Seven years ago, I created the artwork for the “Stabbing The Drama”album and I can’t believe how time flies! Here we are, with sexy grey hairs, working with my friends in SOILWORK again. This time, we built the cover around a maritime concept, aiming for something direct and symbolic. I believe we achieved that quite well. From my creative deck, I salute you and say: Long Live “The Living Infinite”.”
SOILWORK states: “After commissioning some pretty elaborate covers for the last couple of records, we decided to try something more sober and design-oriented for The Living Infinite. Who better to call than the man who created the iconic “Stabbing The Drama” cover? Mircea Gabriel Eftemie is not only a close friend but also an incredible graphic designer. We’re all stoked about his work which is different from anything SOILWORK has ever done and perfectly suits the elegant oceanic concept of “The Living Infinite”. Enjoy folks!”

Nuclear Blast announces that the swedish Heavy Metal bloodbrothers of ENFORCER recently signed a new worldwide record deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Their new album is called „Death By Fire“ and will be released on February, 1st.
Bandleader, vocalist and guitar player Olof Wikstrand comments: „It feels great to finally have finished this long awaited third ENFORCER record. Now with Nuclear Blast on board we’re gonna make sure to spread it to every corner of this planet. You can expect nothing but the total, self defining ENFORCER record.“
Nuclear Blast head of A&R, Andy Siry says: „ We’ve been following the career of ENFORCER since their debut album, because from there on, they formed the spearhead of a new, young generation of traditionally influenced metal. We’re impressed by the bands consequent and authentic appearance, whether on stage, concerning their sound, their image and so on. This reminds of the atmosphere of departure and the rebellion, heavy metal represented at the beginning of the 80’s. ENFORCER have got that special something, represent their ideals and they know what they want. We’re looking forward to the upcoming CD and a long successful cooperation.”
“Nuclear Blast has a very long history when it comes to signing new bands from Finland and transforming them into household names. Once in a while a new band comes along that is so driven, energetic, powerful, enthusiastic, passionate and professional that you immediately see its potential to make the breakthrough. After we had seen LOST SOCIETY playing at the Global Battle Of the Bands, we knew that this is a combo of that kind! LOST SOCIETY have already recorded their debut album at the famous Sonic Pump Studiostogether with producer Nino Laurenne. The record is scheduled for a release via Nuclear Blast in spring 2013 and doubtlessly will be a real highlight for all fans of speed and thrash metal. The future belongs to LOST SOCIETY – welcome to the Nuclear family!”
“We are more than happy to announce that we’ve been signed to Nuclear Blast and we’re looking forward a lot to cooperating with the label. Our debut album will be an old-school thrash oriented one that’ll surely leave a lasting impression!”Click below to watch the band’s performance at the Finnish GBOB finals and convince yourselves of the youngsters’ skills:

A mini-site for “The Manticore And Other Horrors” has been launched, featuring album audio, information, gallery, desktop downloads, plus a chance to download the track “For Your Vulgar Delectation” for free.
Recorded in eight weeks at both Springvale and Grindstone studios (where it was also mixed by Scott Atkins), Suffolk, “The Manticore And Other Horrors” is a testament to the longevity of the ‘FILTH, as not only does it reek of CRADLE‘s (feared or revered) brand of delicious metal vamperotica, but this thoroughly modern album places the band firmly in fresh killing fields anew.
“The Manticore And Other Horrors” itself possesses an altogether new atmosphere for the band, incorporating a heavier, faster NWOBBM punk vibe that is both current and cruel, blended with ornate orchestration and the quirky immediateness of 2000′s “Midian” opus.
The album’s title can be likened to a bestiary, a collection of stories on monsters – personal demons, Chimeras, literary fiends and world-enslaving entities to blame but a few. “Manticore”, the ravening title track, is a song about a beautiful mythological horror that comes to be feared as the disfigurehead of foreign occupation in the Indian provinces.
The songs “Illicitus” and “Pallid Reflection” bear the sweet ingredients of vampirism and lycanthropy; the wicked “For Your Vulgar Delectation” and “Frost On Her Pillow” are woven perversely into grim fairy tales, whilst classic, monumental tracks like “The Abhorrent And Siding With The Titans” both extol tentacular Lovecraftian values.

Finnish melancholic dark metal forerunners AMORPHIS have entered the studio to begin recording their as-yet-untitled 11th album for a March/April 2013 release via Nuclear Blast Records. Production and mixing duties for the follow-up to 2011′s “The Beginning Of Times” are being handled by HYPOCRISY and PAIN mastermind Peter Tägtgren, who has previously worked with such bands as CHILDREN OF BODOM, CELTIC FROST, IMMORTAL and DIMMU BORGIR. The recordings are taking place at Petrax Studio (NIGHTWISH, CHILDREN OF BODOM, KORPIKLAANI) in Hollola and 5K Studios in Helsinki.
The third in a series of webisodes featuring footage from the studio can be seen below.
Commented AMORPHIS guitarist and founding member Esa Holopainen: “The recording process is going well. We’re done with most of the instruments and now Peter Tägtgren and Tomi Joutsen are working their asses off with vocals
“To reveal something, we have recorded real church organ and our cameraman has witnessed paranormal activity and spent time with Shaman at a Finnish forest. The document we are filming from recording sessions is going to turn out quite a horror movie. You’ll see that the album is going to turn out a real spiritual metal journey.”
Regarding the direction of the new AMORPHIS material, Esa said, “Over the last couple of weeks we’ve had some really intense rehearsing for the forthcoming album. Originally we laid down around 20 new songs as demos, now we are proceeding with 14 tracks.
“I’m really thrilled about the idea to take a major step away from the so-called routines that we’ve had with our last records.
“While promoting ‘The Beginning Of Times’, we started to feel that we were giving the same explanations over and over again when people asked about the studio process and how the songs came about. Even though the music was very strong, the making process didn’t offer any surprises and appeared to be quite secured. Now the addition of a new dimension to the developing process has inspired us to focus on our material even more. The songs are extremely strong, bombastic and skull-pummelling.
“Though it’s too early for a statement like this, I’d already love to say that we’ve created the best AMORPHIS album ever. We’ll do our best!”
“The Beginning Of Times” entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 16 — the best chart position ever scored by an AMORPHIS album in that country. The CD also landed at position No. 1 on the Finnish chart.
