According to Century Media Records, Before entering the studio to record a follow-up for “One For Sorrow”, Finland’s best export in dark melodic death metal, INSOMNIUM, have compiled a “Making of” documentary of their time in the studio recording “One For Sorrow”, their Century Media debut full-length album.
The band comments about this: “During the spring 2011 our good friend Jussi Ratilainen decided to shoot some video of INSOMNIUM, which was supposed to become a short, making-of-documentary about writing and recording of our latest album “One For Sorrow”. As you already know, things took unexpected turn and we lost a band member and a good friend, Ville Vänni, during this process. Luckily, during the same year we also found the best imaginable fit and new member from Markus Vanhala. This is our first-ever video release telling how “One for Sorrow” came into being. It’s also a story about friendship and dedication; about four guys chasing a dream while trying to make ends meet. In all its honesty.”
Furthermore INSOMNIUM will embark for one more European tour to promote “One For Sorrow”. This time they’ll team up with mighty Children Of Bodom. The band is psyched about joining the metal legends on tour: “We have been listening Children of Bodom since we started this band and it’s an honour to share the same stage with them every night. Can’t wait to see you on road!”
Please note that INSOMNIUM are only playing the first half of the Children Of Bodom tour.

Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM will release their new album, “One For Sorrow”, on October 12 in Finland, October 17 in the rest of Europe and October 18 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden with sound engineer Daniel Antonsson (also bassist in DARK TRANQUILLITY and guitarist in DIMENSION ZERO) and at Fantom studios in Tempere, Finland, where the album was also mixed by Samu Oittinen.
According to a press release, “One For Sorrow” is “such an amalgamation of styles that pigeonholing [INSOMNIUM] into a single category would be to rob the band of its true complexity and ignore the very essence of its sound. Recalling art-metal titans CULT OF LUNA at one turn and brutal visionaries AMON AMARTH at others, ‘One For Sorrow’ displays the true musical breadth of a band that has clearly come into its own.”
INSOMNIUM guitarist Ville Friman comments on the album title: “The name ‘One For Sorrow’ comes from a traditional children’s nursery rhyme. There are ten different scenarios in the original rhyme; likewise there are ten different songs and stories on our album. I think ‘One For Sorrow’ truly depicts what this album is all about: bereavement, grief and loss.”
