Video footage of Italian heavy metal singer Fabio Lione (RHAPSODY OF FIRE, KAMELOT) performing a karaoke-style cover version of the QUEEN classic “The Show Must Go On” on the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise — which set sail on January 23 aboard the Royal Caribbean Majesty Of The Seas from Miami, Florida to George Town, Cayman Islands and returned four days later — can be viewed below.

Lione was the lead singer for KAMELOT for their most recent North American, South American and European tours following the departure of the band’s longtime frontman, Roy Khan.

Lione stated in a 2011 interview that he would “would love” to join KAMELOT permanently. He said, “The KAMELOT songs are great, I really like the style and Khan is probably one of the few singers that I like. So, of course, I would consider that!!! But first let’s do the North American [tour]. Then if they will ask me, I’ll be more than happy to join the band permanently.”

He added, “Since the first time we met and played together, we had a very good feeling. Everything was easy and natural like we knew each other for years and everybody who saw the band in South America or Europe said we did great shows. I’m happy for the guys and the fans, so let’s see what the future will bring for us. Never say never.” Source: Blabbermouth.net

American/Norwegian melodic metallers KAMELOT have released the following statement:

“Unfortunately, we have been informed that, due to continuing medical and personal issues, [vocalist] Roy Khan [full name: Roy Sætre Khantatat] will not be able to finish the remaining touring in support of [KAMELOT's latest album] ‘Poetry For The Poisoned’. However, we are pleased to announce that metal icon Fabio Lione (RHAPSODY OF FIRE) will be joining the tour and handling the lead vocal duties. There will also be guest vocal appearances throughout the tour by Simone Simons (EPICA), Tommy Karevik (SEVENTH WONDER), and many more surprise guests throughout this very special and rare tour.”

Fabio Lione (in the photo) is eager to get on the road, stating, “I am excited and pleased to be part of the next KAMELOT tour..I always loved the sound of the band..and I think this will be a great experience for me, the band and for all the fans of great music and KAMELOT… See you soon on tour and let’s rock!!!”

KAMELOT has announced the following two shows as part of what will be a full U.S. tour.

Aug. 30 – Grammercy Theater – New York, NY
Sep. 02 – Club Soda – Montreal , Quebec Canada

Promoters will offer a special VIP ticket for these shows. This will include a pre-show meet-and-greet, and an autographed poster commemorating the show.
Both shows go on sale today exclusively through EnterTheVault.com until January 22, when they will become available everywhere.

Kamelot has released a statement, saying that their vocalist, Roy Khan, has gotten ill and that is the reason the band was forced to postpone all the concerts scheduled in North America this fall.

The band writes on their official myspace blog:

“We have been rehearsing like madmen here in Tampa — the band is tighter than ever and Michael from Circus Maximus is truly an amazing singer; if there is one male vocalist in this world who is up to par with Roy, it is Michael! However, after today’s rehearsal, we all decided that we do not feel right about doing the North American tour as anything less than a 100% Kamelot Experience. We appreciate that many fans have waited more than 2 years for new material and to see us perform together.

Our new album, “Poetry for the Poisoned” represents a labor of love from us, and to present it at anything less than full strength seems a disservice to all involved. Though we will suffer financial losses on this late hour cancellation, we still feel it’s the right decision for us as a band to make – we regret disappointing all those who worked so hard to shape this tour, and especially those fans who were still so willing to come through and support us despite Roy’s absence.

We are humbled by that type of support, and we sincerely hope that, with our return in full form, Kamelot´s strength will be of more reward for your unwavering loyalty! We will reschedule all shows in the near future, once Roy is able to return. Refunds can be obtained at the point of purchase. To thank Michael for his effort, the band will still appear at the soldout Progpower Festival, as a one off show with him and many special guest singers from the festival. Again, we want to thank all of you for your amazing support!!”
