STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet posted the following message online on November 3rd:

“Please share! I was watching CNN this morning and it truly was heartbreaking to see what those affected by Hurricane Sandy are facing. I want to encourage everyone to help, even if it’s in the smallest of ways. Donate whatever you can afford to The Red Cross and continue to pray for the people of the North East.

I’m posting an unmastered, full length version of the song ‘Strong’ from my new record here, and I hope that it’s in some way a light in the dark. We ARE strong and no matter what we’re faced with, we WILL rise above it through faith and determination. Much Love and respect to all of you.”

MVD Visual has set an October 23 release date for the “Live In Indonesia At Java Rockin’ Land” DVD from Christian hard rockers STRYPER.

Celebrating almost 30 years of incredible melodies and musicianship, “Live In Indonesia” features hits and rarities delivered in impeccable sound and video.

Recorded in front of an enthusiastic crowd in 2010, this is the definitive STRYPER DVD.

“This show was an unexpected, but welcomed, addition to our tour schedule,” said STRYPER singer, guitarist and songwriter Michael Sweet. “It was added last minute and we scrambled to make it happen, but I’m glad it worked out. It was an opportunity to go to a primarily Muslim country and share our faith. Java Rockin’ Land was a highlight moment of our career and I’m thrilled that we were able to capture its on video. It’s definitely one of the better live performances by the band in a long time, and the fact that it was captured on video makes it even more exciting. I think the fans are going to really enjoy it.”

Without a doubt, STRYPER is one of the top Christian rock bands of all time, and certainly the most celebrated Christian metal band of all time. Comprised of Sweet (vocals/guitar), Oz Fox (guitar), Tim Gaines (bass), and Robert Sweet (drums), STRYPER has been rocking since 1983, and is responsible for such ’80s metal classic albums as “Soldiers Under Command”, “To Hell With The Devil”, “In God We Trust” and such MTV hit singles/videos as “Calling On You”, “Free” and “Honestly”.

After a sabbatical for much of the 1990s, STRYPER returned strong in the early 21st century. But it was not until their 2011 covers set, “The Covering”, that the aforementioned definitive STRYPER was reinstated, as the band welcomed Gaines back into the fold.

Fan-filmed video footage of former TNT singer Tony Harnell performing the BOSTON classic “More Than A Feeling” with the help of STRYPER/ex-BOSTON frontman Michael Sweet on May 24 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City can be seen below.

Harnell opened for STRYPER at the concert and joined the headliners on stage during their set to perform the JUDAS PRIEST classic “Breaking The Law”. Fan-filmed video footage of that performance below is also available.

As previously reported, Harnell will guest on the new solo album from Michael Sweet, due later this year on Big3 Records. Harnell will be a special guest vocalist on the song “Taking On The World Tonight”.

Commented Sweet: “I think Tony is truly one of the most underrated singers of all time. He’s always been one of my favorites and is an incredibly nice, humble guy to boot. I’ve always wanted to work with Tony and I knew this would be the perfect song and opportunity to do so. ‘Taking On The World Tonight’ is very heavy with a combination of old-school riffs and solos yet it’s got a very modern, relevant sound as well. It’s the best of both worlds! You won’t be disappointed.”

Several hard rock musicians have commented on the passing of broadcast legend Dick Clark, the creator and longtime host of the “American Bandstand” show. Clark became a national icon in the late 1950s, having hosted “American Bandstand” for more than 30 years.

KISS frontman Paul Stanley stated about the 82-year-old the youthful-looking television personality, who was dubbed “America’s Oldest Teenager”: “As a little boy, I sat transfixed to our television every afternoon and Saturday night watching ‘American Bandstand’. Dick Clark was the face of rock and roll and its best ambassador. His decades of successes both in and outside of the music industry are unparalleled. He championed KISS when others turned away and was instrumental in breaking us through his show ‘In Concert’. Through the years, Dick was always available when I had a question or wanted guidance. Dick Clark was the rare exception who was a bigger person in real life than the public image or legend that was also to be his legacy. I will remember him with great respect and gratitude.”

David Draiman (DISTURBED): “So sad, really thought he might be a vampire. Never seemed to grow old.”

Jeff Scott Soto (TALISMAN, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JOURNEY): “RIP, a legend, a pioneer of rock and roll, the guy who set the bar for DJs around the world, Dick Clark, you are an important part of history that will never be forgotten!!”

Glenn Hughes (BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE): “RIP to old friend Dick Clark: thanx for bein’ part of our Cal Jam TV show.”

Kip Winger (WINGER): “RIP Dick Clark, we thought you’d live forever! Rockin’ the heavens and beyond!

Michael Sweet (STRYPER): “RIP Dick Clark — it was an honor to perform on ‘American Bandstand’ and to meet you back then. There was no one like you nor will there ever be.” Source: Blabbermouth.net
