UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER Honored With ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’

Former ACCEPT and current U.D.O. frontman Udo Dirkschneider — who turned 60 this past April — was honored with a “lifetime achievement award” by his record label, AFM Records, at this year’s Wacken Open Air festival, which was held on August 2-4 in Wacken, Germany. Dirkschneider‘s award recognized his status as one of the most popular and respected voices in metal ever, having had a massive impact on future generations of metal musicians.

In other news, U.D.O. and AFM recently extended their long-term deal and look forward to continuing on the path of success.

U.D.O.‘s November 16, 2011 concert at Hristo Botev Hall in Sofia, Bulgaria was professionally filmed for release as a DVD+CD and Blu-ray+CD. Entitled “Live In Sofia”, it will be made available on September 28 via AFM Records.

“Celebrator”, a collection of rare tracks from U.D.O., will be released on double vinyl on August 17 via High Roller Records. It is limited to 500 copies in three different colors. The set was made available in Europe on May 4 via AFM Records and was released in North America on June 19.

U.D.O.‘s latest album, “Rev-Raptor”, was released on May 20, 2011 via AFM Records.

The recordings for the CD took place between June 2010 and February 2011 at Roxx studios (owned by U.D.O. guitarist and ex-ACCEPT drummer Stefan Kaufmann) in Pulheim, Germany. The effort was mastered by Manfred Melchior at MM Sound Digital studios in Steinhagen, Germany. The album’s cover artwork is once again a comic-like motif: but the “Dominator” character is this time “a lot more effectual and colorful,” according to a press release.

Entitled “Celebrator”, the effort will be made available on April 20 via AFM Records. The group is currently finalizing the track listing for the CD, the details of which will be announced later this month.

UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER Talks ACCEPT, U.D.O. DVD Shoot During Sofia Press Conference (Video)

U.D.O. vocalist Udo Dirkschneider and bassist Fitty Wienhold took part in a press conference earlier today (Wednesday, November 16) at Vitosha Park Hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria. Video footage of the question-and-answer session can now be seen in two parts below (courtesy of Metal Hangar 18).

When asked if he has heard “Blood Of The Nations”, the 2010 comeback album from ACCEPT with the band’s new vocalist, Mark Tornillo, and what his thoughts are on the group’s reunion without him, Udo said, “What can I say? It’s not a bad album. They were also asking me to do the reunion. I didn’t say ‘No,’ but I made some points, you know, if I do this, there were some points to make clear. But then Wolf [Hoffman, ACCEPT guitarist] said ‘No,’ he doesn’t agree. Then I said, ‘OK, fuck you. And then do your own reunion. And so, what can I say?! I wish them good luck. And we will see what they do in the future. . . [It's] interesting [because] they have to play all this old classic [ACCEPT] stuff [while] we can pick out the cherries of the old classic [ACCEPT] stuff [to play live with U.D.O.]. I think we are, in a way, in a better position.”

Tonight’s U.D.O. concert at Hristo Botev Hall in Sofia, Bulgaria will be professionally filmed for the band’s next official live DVD.

As previously reported, U.D.O. has been for confirmed for next year’s edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 2-4, 2012 in Wacken, Germany. The group states, “The show will be recorded for the forthcoming live DVD! Furthermore, there are more surprises currently in the works.”

SABATON Performs With UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER In Sweden (Video)

Fan-filmed video footage of Swedish metallers SABATON performing the song “Into The Fire” with a special guest appearance by former ACCEPT and current U.D.O. frontman Udo Dirkschneider at the 2011 Rockstad: Falun festival, which was held June 3-4, 2011 in Falun, Sweden can be seen below. Other musicians who joined SABATON on stage during the concert included Chris Boltendahl (GRAVE DIGGER) and Frédéric Leclercq (DRAGONFORCE).

The members of SABATON stated about the opportunity to perform with Dirkschneider, “Original frontman of the legendary ACCEPT, and it’s a dream coming true for us to have ‘The Voice of Metal’ join us on stage. Many U.D.O. and ACCEPT albums lies close to the heart of SABATON and they are often played in our tour bus.”

About the band:
SISTER, who hails from Stockholm/Jönkoping Sweden, formed in early 2006 working hard to build up a name as a strong act both live and in the studio. SISTER consists of 4 members- Jamie on vocals, Lestat on guitars and backing vocals, Rikki on bass and backing vocals, and Cari on drums and backing vocals- who combine the sounds of Punk, Glam, Rock, and Metal with an end result sounding something like the bastard child of GG Allin and Guns N’ Roses.
