It only rarely happens that progressive metal bands make their way into the mainstream music media but it did when VOLA performed their song ’Alien Shivers’ at the major Danish music award show GAFFA-PRISEN in Aarhus, Denmark.
VOLA states:
”We are super happy to have gotten the opportunity to play at GAFFA-PRISEN along with great artists from many different genres and fields. It is very exciting to see that the metal genre seems to be growing in Denmark and we find it promising that we, as a band from a niche genre that is often excluded from mainstream music events and media in Denmark, now get invited to perform at such a big, popular event”.
VOLA is a Copenhagen based Danish-Swedish progmetal band, consisting of Asger Rostboell Mygind, Nicolai Mogensen, Martin Bruun Werner and Adam Janzi. They appeared on the scene with the EP Homesick Machinery in 2008 and has since released yet another EP Monsters in 2011 and 2 full length albums: Inamazes (2016) and Applause From A Distant Crowd (2018). The band has been touring extensively the last couple of years supporting Dream Theatre, MONUMENTS, and Haken which lead to their first tour as headliners in September 2019 playing high energy gigs to enthusiastic fans in the U.K., the Netherlands, Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and the Czech republic, many of them sold out. VOLA are currently recording their third full-length album, which will be released via Mascot Records at a still unannounced date.
