In his own words, he describes the song “Hey Ladi Dadi” as” Almost heavy metal but with a hook that’ll have you shaking your head and stomping your feet at the same time”
The song is taken from his 23 song, 1 hour and 53 minute long Rock Opera titled “The Life and Times of Eddie Gage” due out in May of 2021.
Nova decided in 2008 not to write, produce, or do anything for anyone else but himself and chose to pursue his vision of writing and creating a Rock Opera which, from its inception, was called “The Life and Times of Eddie Gage”
He wrote his first song for it on February 8th, 2008 called “Go On” and continued to write and produce the initial 8 songs that started the project rolling. All 8 of these songs appear in its final form which was finished 12 years later on May 12th of 2020 that also consist of songs written in 2011, 2013, 2015, and the bulk of the album being written in 2019.
In the Rock Opera, he plays all the different characters. Morphing his voice with each different song.
Born Aldo Caporuscio on November 13, 1956, in Montreal, he speaks fluent English, French and Italian, which gives you an idea of his varied talents. Oh, and Aldo is a successful songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, arranger, and studio engineer. Talk about a master of all trades.
Influenced by Jimi Hendrix, he got interested in playing the guitar when 13 years old.
At the age of 16, the emerging talent of the teenage Aldo Nova began to blossom when he started to play gigs in local clubs, albeit while working at a day job.
A significant break happened for him at 22 years old when his set of demos which included the songs, “Fantasy”, Fantasy Live Home Performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6f4rT30YxCU&ab_channel=AldoNova “Heart to Heart” and “Under the Gun” captured the attention of ATV Publishing in 1981.
Now signed as a writer to ATV Publishing, Aldo Nova completed what was really a set of high-grade demos, and now things really began to happen. His recording contract was sold to Portrait Records and Tony Bongiovi was brought in to mix the tapes at his Power Station Studio in New York.
Apart from the drums, Nova played everything on that album, something that became his staple and part of his reputation as a one-man band, something which still hasn’t changed to this day as Nova played and sang everything on “The Life and Times of Eddie Gage” himself but the drums by Lee Levin and bass which were played by Dan Warner, Sylvain Bolduc and Timothy Gaines(ex- Stryper )
His 1st album sold more than two million copies in America, as it peaked at number eight on the chart. The single ‘Fantasy’ reached number 23 in the US chart. On his second album ‘Subject…Aldo Nova’ again proved brilliantly inventive. Once more, Aldo played all the instruments on the recordings except the drums. Once more he showed he was a visionary in the way he used synthesizers in a rock format. This was issued on October 13, 1983, and sold one million albums. Two years later, he put out ‘Twitch’. But then walked away from his relationship with Portrait, refusing to compromise his musical integrity for the sake of any trend that the label wanted.
In 1984 he played on the debut album from Bon Jovi, lending his credibility and guitar chops to the young Bon Jovi’s song and 1st hit “Runaway”. Five years later, Jon Bon Jovi called on him to play on his solo album, the soundtrack to “Youngs Gun 2 where Aldo played a pivotal role in the making of, even writing the main riff on Jon’s song “Blaze of Glory”. As a result, he was signed by Jon Bon Jovi to his new label Jambco, leading to the well-received ‘Blood On The Bricks’ album in 1991.
He has also been a major and constant factor in the career of Celine Dion, as a producer, musician, and writer, with Aldo has written songs for her such as “Your Light”, “Can’t Fight This Feelin’”, “You And I “and, “A Song for You” amongst many others, and also wrote for many top 10 stars including Faith Hill and Clay Aiken who all had number 1 hits with Nova’s songs.
“When Celine Dion made her comeback in 2001, Nova penned “A New Day Has Come”, a song that held the number 1 position in 26 countries for 6 months for her.
Aldo also won a Grammy Award in 1996 as a producer of the Celine Dion album “Falling Into You”, which was Album Of The Year.
In 2018, he decided to come out of the darkness to record his album 2.0 which featured turbocharged versions 6 tracks from his debut album, along with a new song called “I’m a Survivor”. It did get a mixed response. But as he says,” I realized a long time ago that whatever you put out, not everybody will like it, so I don’t stress about it.”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOwGG4HiRHk&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=AldoNova
Now in 2020, Aldo Nova has come charging out of the gate again with the release of his song “Hey Ladi Dadi” and nothing will hold him back anymore.
Aldo Nova has never accepted anything less than the highest standards. There are many musicians who’ve sold more records than him. But nobody – NO-ONE – can claim to have more foresight and integrity. He may have only released six albums in a 40-year career. But that’s because quality is paramount to a man who will never accept anything but the highest standards.
