Before they drop their cutting-edge debut album, Reptilian Warlords, this Friday, uprising death metal unit PLAGUEMACE gear up for the release of their final pre-release single “Carnivore”! The track attacks immediately, as low growls are joined by contrasting screams and bombastic melodies. Watch the official music video for “Carnivore” and get sucked into its brutal soundscapes!
Hailing from Denmark, PLAGUEMACE is one of the most promising bands of the new generation of old school death metal, and there is no doubt that fans of bands such as Grave, High on Fire, Entombed and Obituary will enjoy their new offering. After winning over live audiences in Scandinavia, as well as in the UK while supporting thrash metal powerhouse Nervosa, PLAGUEMACE are ready to conquer the scene with their first album.
PLAGUEMACE’s thrashy death’n’roll is spiced up with brutal breakdowns and infectious grooves as witnessed on the album opener “Cannibalicious”, which is followed by ruthlessly groovy “Impenetrable Leather”. The brutal soundscapes on “Rhythmic Demise” impress, before the track fades out into “Warcries from the Crypts”, where trumpet and trombone add to the threatening atmosphere. Catchy title track “Reptilian Warlords” kicks off with metallic soundscapes, with groovy rhythms carrying competent death metal vocals and skillful guitarwork. Closing track “Carnivore” attacks immediately, as low growls are joined by contrasting screams, and bombastic melodies lead the album to its end.
PLAGUEMACE on Reptilian Warlords: “Reptilian Warlords is the first in a series of concept albums taking place in our own fictional universe. The story has been torn apart chronologically, and will be put together throughout this, and the following releases. So stay tuned to find out what happens next. The themes of Reptilian Warlords include ANGER, VENGEANCE, DESIRE, WAR and ENRAGING BLOODTHIRST.”

Season of Mist is partnering with the musicians of SAVAGE LANDS. Through this partnership, we’ll bang our heads together to support forests in Costa Rica. This is the first time a record label will be partnering & releasing the music of a non-profitorganization.
*Listening to Savage Lands is already donating directly to this forest preservation effort.*
After seeing first-hand how deforestation threatens Costa Rica’s ecosystem, two angry metalheads started their own non-profit organization. Named after their joint passion for savage heavy metal and wildlife preservation, SAVAGE LANDS was founded in 2022 by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and musician-turned-activist Sylvain Demercastel, who’s a Costa Rica resident.
“Hearing the chainsaw on a daily basis, because of a recent real estate fever destroying Costa Rica’s ecosystem, we thought it was time to start a new type of action”, says Sylvain. “We are reaching out to this great active community of metalheads.”
Today, SAVAGE LANDS are debuting their first single. “The Last Howl” features Andres Kisser (Sepultura) and John Tardy (Obituary). 100% of the song’s royalties will go toward protecting threatened lands from deforestation.
Listening is already donating directly to the forest preservation effort.
Fittingly, “The Last Howl” is a howling tribute to the howler monkey, an endangered species in Costa Rica. Verbeuren hammers out thunderous fills and pinging cymbals, while Sylvain rains down heavy pangs of distortion.
“The Last Howl” packs added fury thanks to some special guests. Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser rips off not one, but two acrobatic solos, and swamp king John Tardy (Obituary) unleashes his inner primate with some ferocious, spit-flinging growls.
“When Dirk first received the instrumental demo, he immediately had John Tardy in his mind for some vocals.” Says Sylvain. “Making the link between the howler monkey’s scream and the more melodic chorus of the song.
“Less than 24 hours after reaching out to John through a common friend, we received aYES from Tardy, and knew it was going to be the start of a great adventure.”
Artists occasionally support causes through donations to organizations. With SAVAGE LANDS, Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren teamed up with his guitar-wielding friend Sylvain Demercastel to create their own US 501(c)3 non-profit.
SAVAGE LANDS raises money for reforestation & the creation of sanctuaries free of human destruction. Using their own royalties, donations and other fundraising efforts, the organization builds nature sanctuaries, establishes green zones and other land preservation projects. They partner with other non-profits, scientists and forest engineers, as well as Decibel Magazine and Season of Mist.
“If you want to make a difference, take action! Our greatest hope with SAVAGE LANDS is that it will inspire you to join us, and if you can, to start your own initiative to help preserve animals, forests, and our planet”, says Dirk.

Italian crossover and boundary-pushing quartet METHEDRINE have signed to Time To Kill Records for the release of their debut album, “No Solution, No Salvation”.
METHEDRINE originally took shape in 2017 when Upset Noise (pioneers of Italian crossover/d-beat in the 80s) disbanded after a brief reunion. Bone (drums), Lucio (vocals) and Mark (guitar) started looking for new members for a new band. Dario (guitar) and Bob (bass) answered the call and the band started mixing influences ranging from Motorhead to early thrash and hardcore, looking for new musical landscapes.} A taste of the material was released on the EP “Built For Speed” in March 2018. After a couple of years spent spreading their message on stages (in Italy, Belgium and Croatia), tensions built up within the band, until Bone and Mark decided to leave the project. The remaining members wasted no time and their search for a new drummer ended when Nik answered the call. The brand new METHEDRINE 2.0 are now further exploring the d-beat/crossover legacy, expanding their sonic perspectives with more varied and darker influences.
Watch for more details on the new album release, new tour updates, and more news on other upcoming METHEDRINE activities to be posted shortly.
WHITECHAPEL have announced a new live album, Live In The Valley, which will be released digitally on January 26, 2024 across all digital platforms. The album contains songs from the albums “Kin” and “The Valley” and was recorded live at the band’s 7th annual Christmas Benefit Show on December 22, 2022 at The Mill & Mine in their hometown of Knoxville, TN.
Here’s what guitarist Alex Wade had to say about Live In The Valley: “We decided to record the audio from our 7th annual hometown Christmas benefit show in 2022 where we played a mixed set from our albums ‘The Valley’ and ‘Kin’. We thought this would be a good way to close the chapter on these albums before we start recording our 9th album. The audio was recorded, engineered, mixed and mastered by our very own Zach Householder and we are excited about the way that it turned out. Along with the audio we shot 2 live videos to accompany the live album release.”

About the band: At this stage in the game, the name Whitechapel commands respect. Already sitting on one of the most enviable catalogs in contemporary metal, in 2019 they dropped The Valley, showcasing a confident evolution in their sound and standing as a true landmark release that sets a new standard for the genre. “To me, it was like the stars aligning for us to create our almost perfect record in regard to songwriting, vocal performance, the mix and master, and the artwork,” says guitarist Alex Wade. “We like to look at our albums as chapters of our career, and that is one chapter I will never forget. I think it really solidified that we can embrace a new sound, and if we execute it properly, then the fanbase is going to support and enjoy it.” In 2021, they return with that album’s successor, the mighty Kin, which is an even more dynamic and diverse collection, further advancing the band’s sound into new territory without losing sight of what brought them to this point. “I feel with every album, we learn what worked best on the last one and try to utilize that in our writing. Early in the writing, there was some discussion of the album being like ‘The Valley’ part II, not literally called that, but in how the songs sound and flow through it. It’s very much a storytelling type record like ‘The Valley’ was,” adds vocalist Phil Bozeman, “Musically, we just want to create what we vibe with at the given moment. We write music with how we feel and not what is expected of us, while lyrically the idea of continuing from the story of ‘The Valley’ was always the goal.”
“For a generation of fans, Whitechapel are the most legitimately brutal band of the deathcore movement” – Kerrang!
“Their music attacks from the first track, and they draw you in, commanding your attention with their performance and presence. This is how I’ve always felt about Whitechapel” – Metal Nation
“Whitechapel has certainly become, in my opinion, one of the more unique metal bands still making music today” – Metal Injection
