Bay-area ragers VIO-LENCE kick your teeth in with “Let The World Burn,” the first official music video from their eponymous 5-song EP, due on Metal Blade Records on March 4th. “Let The World Burn” marks the third video in the bands catalog, following “World In A World” (off 1990’s Oppressing The Masses) and the 2020 single “California Uber Alles.” The video was directed by Robert Graves/Defiant Digital Productions.
Frontman Sean Killian states, “The memory of you will be forever forgotten when the extinction event arrives and fire becomes God. When the world burns and all is destroyed, all you know, all you believe will be forgotten forever. Let the world burn!“
Phil Demmel, founding guitarist, adds “I hadn’t written a lot of thrash in the past 17 years or so but being the main songwriter for the band over the years I wanted that sound, I wanted that mid-80s raw thing, but I also wanted to capture our signature notes and structures and stuff like that.“
Filling out the band’s ranks on Let The World Burn alongside Demmel and Killian are original drummer Perry Strickland, former OVERKILL guitarist Bobby Gustafson and former FEAR FACTORY bassist Christian Olde Wolbers. Let the World Burn was recorded with Juan Urteaga at Trident Studios (Testament, Machine Head, Exodus), with mixing handled by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Meshuggah) and Grammy Award winning engineer Ted Jensen (Alice In Chains, Deftones, Pantera).
VIO-LENCE will bring their head-stomping brutal live show to select cities with fellow thrashers CORONER before both legends impede upon the Maryland Deathfest on May 27th. Tickets on sale now.

WISHBONE ASH’s U.S. tour will kick off on Feb. 23 and run through May 24. The tour, with legs in the Northeast/Midwest and South/West, will continue the band’s 50th Anniversary celebrations and will also mark the golden anniversary of their landmark album, “Argus.”
“Thankfully, before Covid-19 shut live music down around the world, we did manage to celebrate our 50th anniversary by touring Europe and other territories in support of our new album, ‘Coat of Arms,’” says founding member Andy Powell (guitar, lead vocals). “The USA was not quite so lucky, missing out on the party. So we’ll be resuming the celebration for our friends and fans who missed out due to the pandemic.”
Formed in October 1969, Wishbone Ash pioneered a melodic style of twin-lead guitar that inspired such groups as Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden. Influenced equally by British folk traditions, American jazz and R&B, the band played to public and critical acclaim.
“Argus” (1972), their double-platinum third album, is interwoven with spiritual imagery, featuring such classics as “The King Will Come,” “Throw Down the Sword” and “Blowin’ Free” – all three are still staples of Wishbone Ash’s regular concerts. The album’s iconic cover design is one of Hipgnosis’ legendary works – a sentry surveying a misty landscape – encapsulating the title of the album, which was taken from Greek mythology’s one-eyed watcher.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of “Argus,” the band will perform the album in its entirety at selected shows on the tour.
Slated for later this year is an “Argus” limited-release special box set containing the remastered album plus historical live albums, previously unreleased, from the original band, back at that time.
The quintessential road band, Wishbone Ash has gained worldwide recognition, based firmly on a regime of relentless touring and recording. Power and melody have made the Ash a hard act to follow, while they are currently being discovered by new generations of loyal rock fans.
Powell trades licks with Yorkshire’s Mark Abrahams, who has been playing Wishbone Ash tunes since his youth. Bob Skeat keeps the low-end rocking, working the grooves with newest band member Mike Truscott on drums. Mike also hails from Yorkshire, England, like Mark Abrahams.
In just the last few years, tours have been set in North America, Europe and the United Kingdom, as well as Japan and South Africa. Each year, approximately 30,000 actual road miles are racked up, plus countless flights, taking the band’s special brand of twin lead guitar-based rock around the planet.
“Everyone by now knows that Wishbone Ash is one of the hardest working bands in rock today and so it really was a major blow, to be wrenched out of our comfort zone – being on tour,” Powell says. “A lot of personal, financial and physical adjustment was needed in taking this forced hiatus, for all of us, but we kept ourselves busy. I’ve been working on my gear and working on songs. I also started my online patreon.com/andypowell site where I dispense road stories, guitar tips and songwriting insights. This kind of thing has kept us focused and creative individually, but there’s nothing quite like a life on the road, especially if you’ve been living that way for 50 years!”
Their last U.S. concert was at the Triple Door in Seattle on Friday the 13th of 2020. “I looked like a hermetically sealed passenger when I boarded the plane for home,” Powell says. “We were getting intel about the Covid situation from the authorities as we rounded the corner up through California and Washington state, the virus seemed to be on our heels. After that, the whole world seemed to shut down and we had to make some major adjustments. We miss all our friends and fans around the U.S. and the world, in fact, and the camaraderie and support that brings.”
These two U.S. tour legs will prove to be a sweet reunion.

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the signing of New Jersey based post-sludge-metal band SUNROT. To mark the occasion, SUNROT have released a brand new single, available exclusively via Bandcamp, titled 21%. The single has an accompanying noise track as a B-side, which was created in collaboration with ErosLovesYou. Work is underway for a full length album which will be released under the Prosthetic banner in due course.
The track features clean vocals – a first for SUNROT – and represents the closure of one chapter of the band and the start of a new one. Vocalist Lex Santiago comments:
“21% was written a few years ago and has been played live – but we never got around to recording as it’s a bit experimental for us – and never saw it fitting on a previous release. We definitely tapped into some softer textures and tones and got vulnerable with it and it’s refreshing to us to try new stuff while still keeping true to ourselves
“The song uses the story of Icarus as a metaphor for a bipolar cycle of depression, mania, and psychosis. The depression being banishment to the labyrinth, the mania being flying through the sky with wax and feather wings, and the psychosis being the moment he flew too close to the sun and burned up the wings and fell. I experienced this cycle myself in 2018, including hospitalisations which left me feeling like I was never going to be able to get out of institutions and the cycle of pain and terror I was in. It was a long road out of that and this song was really healing to finally put the words to it.
“We really are just a bunch of goofballs with big hearts, that’s why we wanted to release it on Valentine’s Day! Let’s be honest, it’s a day that sucks for most of us so we wanted to remind anyone listening that we love you and will be your Valentine this year if you don’t have one.”
The digital single will be released on other digital platforms at a later date, joining the rest of the SUNROT discography, which includes the 2017 album Sunnata, which has been on heavy rotation at Prosthetic Records HQ.
Prosthetic’s Becky Laverty said: “We’ve been fans of Sunrot for a few years now, and when our paths crossed we started to discuss the possibility of working together. Their blend of sludge, noise and post metal coupled with their enthusiasm and passion for creativity makes them a really special band.”
Lex adds: “We are so excited to be working with Prosthetic and to be on their roster of fantastic bands and among great friends! We’ve had so many great folks give us amazing opportunities to get us to this point, and signing with a label who believes in us and the art we make feels great! Thank you Becky, Steve, EJ, and the rest of the Prosthetic team for welcoming us aboard!

Heralding the coming of “Dreams Of Fragmentation” via Debemur Morti Productions on March 11th, a second track from CAILLEACH CALLING‘s debut, ‘Mercurial Inversion‘, is unveiled. Focusing more on traditional Black Metal structure and elements, this song displays ferocious blast parts, piercing guitar riffs as well as raw screams. Subtly interwoven guitar melodies as well as spherical keyboard elements nevertheless grant the composition an ethereal vibe. Listen to the song on YouTube and Bandcamp:
Composer Tony Thomas narrates about the genesis of ‘Mercurial Inversion‘:
“‘Mercurial Inversion‘ was the last track I wrote for this album. While all the songs have a sinister atmosphere, I wanted this song to have a more traditional Black Metal minor key feeling in how it invoked darkness. Of course, there is still the theme of dreaminess present which can also be found in the other songs through the usage of layered synths and guitars. I had the initial drum arrangements written before meeting our drummer Yurii. However, having everyone involved adding their personal touch to the music is important to me. So, concerning this track I asked if he could keep the general vibe of my arrangements, but play his own interpretation of it. I think this worked out wonderfully. For future albums we plan to be more collaborative from the beginning when it comes to the drum arrangements.“
The sound of traditional as well as post Black Metal bands had a definite impact on the compositions on “Dreams Of Fragmentation“. Tony unveils about his influences:
“I started listening to Black Metal in the late 90s. At the time I was mainly exposed to the Norwegian sound with MAYHEM being my favorite band as a teenager. I was also heavily into the more melodic Swedish style, with bands like DAWN, VINTERLAND, DISSECTION, and LORD BELIAL being on heavy rotation in my youth.
These days what I mainly look for in Black Metal is emotional intensity and atmosphere. I enjoy many Post Black Metal bands such as DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT, earlier LANTLÔS, HERETOIR, CONSTELLATIA from South Africa and SOMN from Russia, as far as modern bands go.“
“Dreams Of Fragmentation” will be released on CD, vinyl and digitally on March 11th. The album can be pre-ordered from the label’s EU, US and Bandcamp shops.
CAILLEACH CALLING was inceptionalized in the Spring 2021 by long term music partners Tony Thomas (DAWN OF OUROBOROS, BOTANIST) and Chelsea Murphy (DAWN OF OUROBOROS). They had a desire to create a project that was both rooted into the more traditional style of atmospheric Black Metal, while incorporating the more modern and progressive sensibilities they are known for in their other projects. With Tony handling guitars/synths/bass, and Chelsea on vocals, they then enlisted YuriiKononov (ex-WHITE WARD) on drums to complete the line-up. With a solid line-up they completed their debut “Dreams Of Fragmentation” by late summer of the same year. The album features furious atmospheric Black Metal, with both traditional and post-black sounds mixed with melodic, ethereal, and highly emotional touches to create something that is dynamic, intense and dripping with passion.
After releasing a first single (Words Corrupted Lyric Video here: https://youtu.be/rWO3JB3PBwo) taken off their upcoming fourth studio album, Exquisite Aspects Of Wrath, Finnish Black Metal quartet MORMÂNT DE SNAGOV reveal yet another single, Themis Supreme, now online here:
Here’s the band’s thoughts on the new single: “Themis Supreme represents the more aggressive side of our new album. The idea for this song was based on the verse drum beat which is very much different than the basic blastbeat one might expect. P. Jokela somehow magically created this beat combining perfectly aggression and speed with progressive elements. The chorus of this song is more death metallish, creating a very cool contrast with the furious verse. The lyrics are based on a specific book trilogy, which is pretty obvious to those who’ve read it. However, the lyrics are not just storytelling, but as always, we tried to bring up some thoughts about us humans as species.”
Here’s what the band says about the new album: “The album sounds spectacular bringing even more melodic elements to the sound of Mormânt De Snagov, yet keeping the hateful core as extreme as it used to be.”
The MESSER Machine is fired up once again with another positive energy-driven song, “Hope In This World.”
“Hope In This World” is the newest creation from this modern rock power house known for their catchy hooks and high energy live performances. With 3 top 25 active rock singles, MESSER is poised to raise the bar even higher. Re-energized and focused, MESSER is ready to deliver an experience that goes beyond the music.
“Our new single was born out of the pandemic. We couldn’t just sit here and do nothing. We have a platform and we are compelled to use it for good” says the band.
They continue, “One of the most powerful things you can give someone is hope. We live in a world more divided than ever, making it hard to see a way for us to find a place of peace and harmony.‘Hope In This World’ is a song about bridging the gap between us that seems to be growing every day. The core message of this song is helping people find hope despite the negativity. It’s easy to get trapped in boxes of belief and confusion. This song is about the lifeline we cling to for change, the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Be a part of the Machine and help us find some Hope In This World.
Messer continued their momentum from their breakout year with the release of “Simple Man”, the 3rd single and video from their self-titled debut album, which bowed at #3 on the Soundscan New Artist chart and was named “New and Noteworthy” at iTunes and Amazon Music. The Dallas, Texas based band had a banner year in 2018 with first single “Make This Life” reaching #25 on the Active Rock radio charts, and second single “Save Myself” also made it into the Top 30 – the only truly independent act to do so.
“Simple Man” peaked at #23 on the Active Rock charts, and is the highest charting single for the band to date. It garnered attention throughout the rock world with spots on key Hard Rock playlists @ Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora Radio, Google Play Music, Youtube and Slacker Radio. The band has received accolades @ Loudwire, AXS, Alternative Press, Revolver, New Noise, Pure Grain Audio, and more.
The band was relentless touring hard in 2019, opening for Pop Evil, Scott Stapp, and headlining their own tour. Messer played more than 250 shows in 2019, including a 40-city sold out tour with RED and Lacey Sturm. The band was personally invited by Kevin Lyman to play the Texas leg of the final Vans Warped Tour.
The band’s cutting-edge modern rock sound was born through serendipitous connections in the thriving Deep Ellum music scene of Dallas, an area that has given rise to iconic Hard Rock and Metal bands like Pantera, Drowning Pool, Hell Yeah, and King’s X. The band grew their fan base locally, and began to branch out regionally and nationally, opening for notable bands such as Sick Puppies, Candlebox, Hinder, Vince Neil, Black Stone Cherry, Drowning Pool, Metallica, Scott Stapp Of Creed, and Avenged Sevenfold, among others. It was on one of these tours that the band caught the attention of Los Angeles based writer/producer, Chad Gendason. The band felt an immediate camaraderie with Chad and a lasting bond was made. Messer started writing with Chad, and their first collaboration became “Simple Man”. Fan favorite “Whiskey” soon followed and the songs started to flow into what would become their self-titled debut album “Messer”. The album was mixed by Ben Grosse (Marilyn Manson, Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed) and mastered by Tom Baker (Papa Roach, David Bowie, Motley Crue).
Messer Show Dates: Wednesday Feb 23rd @ Galaxy Theater for music video premier / acoustic performance Saturday May 7th in Ft. Smith, Arkansas @ 7 Steel Horse Ralley Saturday Jul 30th in Jackpot, Nevada @ Edgefest
