There comes a time when every musician must look their past squarely in the eye. And while Gales’ latest release, Tribute To LJK, is a thrillingly modern record for the here and now, it’s also a nod to his bloodline and the roots of his family tree. “This record has been a long time coming,” he says of the speaker-rattling release co-produced by Bonamassa and Josh Smith. “I wanted it to be the ultimate tribute to my late brother, Little Jimmy King, to keep his memory alive and make sure people remember who he was and still is. All of these songs, except one, are his originals. I wanted to deliver his tunes to the world through my eyes. And I wanted it to be badass – and that’s exactly how it turned out.”
Talking about the new single and album opener, he says, “That’s a real blues-club burner with a ‘Blues Is Alright’ kinda vibe. The first voice you hear is my brother Danuel, who is Little Jimmy’s twin, and there’s a very significant reason I did that, because they sound exactly alike. So my brother’s voice starts this whole record, and there’s a huge sentimental value in that. That song turned out really well, and I think it’s a strong opener – it has very high energy.”
“You Shouldn’t Have Left Me” follows his previous single “Don’t Wanna Go Home,” which featured Joe Bonamassa. With an infectious, slinky groove and fiery fretwork, it whips you up into a swaggering song about taking your paycheque out on the town. The first single taken from the album “Somebody” (feat. Buddy Guy and Roosevelt Collier) is particularly special.. Talking about the song, he says, “It’s just a really dope song, man, and I thought it was a great way to end the record. Buddy Guy is a legend, and that idea was actually mentioned by my wife, LaDonna. She said, ‘I think you should see if Buddy is available. We don’t know how much time any of us has, so while you have the opportunity, you should give it a shot.’ So we went for it, and he said, ‘Yeah.’ He knew my brother, and they played together, so I think it was easy for him to agree to do this song – and the rest is history.”
The blues is an ecosystem, and it’s a measure of the respect commanded by both Eric and his fabled older brother, real name Manuel, who sadly passed away in 2002, that these ten explosive covers are delivered by an all-star cast with deep ties to the project. The collaboration breathes new life into one of Prospect Hill’s most powerful songs, with Richards contributing fresh second-verse lyrics and layered harmonies that give the track a different perspective while preserving its crushing energy. A Collaboration Years in the Making Originally released on June 6, 2025, “Victim” quickly became a fan favorite for its unapologetic lyrics and nu-metal edge. The song tackles toxic blame culture head-on, urging listeners to take accountability rather than fall into the trap of excuses. Now, with Steven Richards stepping in to write and perform an entirely new second verse, the track gains a different narrative angle. His vocal presence is also interwoven throughout the harmonies, creating a powerful back-and-forth with frontman Edgar Troncoso that intensifies the song’s urgency.
“Having Steven on this track is a full-circle moment for us,” says drummer and co-founder Mark Roberge. “Taproot has been one of our biggest influences since day one, and to hear him say this was his favorite collaboration he’s ever done—it doesn’t get more surreal than that.”
The Sound and the Message Co-produced by Shaun Lichtenstein, Derek Rousseau, and Mark Roberge, and mixed by Lichtenstein, the 2025 version of “Victim” pushes Prospect Hill’s sound into sharper focus. Singer Alyssa has previously made waves as a BBC Introducing featured artist. Fabienne Erni is a singer and multi-instrumentalist from Switzerland; best known for her work in Folk Metal sensation Eluveitie, and the founding of the genre-transcending modern metal band ILLUMISHADE. At around 13 years old, Erni first discovered a love for singing, inspired by multi-range artists like Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Sarah Connor and Whitney Houston. Later on, she began expressing her love for music more deeply through the piano. Her enthusiasm for storytelling and music thrived through musical theatre releases, ballads, Disney Songs and Film soundtracks. But it was the moment she witnessed Elton John’s “Aida” musical as a teenager in Stuttgart, Germany that truly solidified her desire to become a singer.
Her passion for music continued to thrive into adulthood, and after high school she studied Complete Vocal Technique in Copenhagen; learning not only to refine her vocal technique, but also to connect more deeply with her voice, allowing it to grow stronger and more expressive than ever before.
With school behind her, Erni took time to travel, journeying through places like India, Nepal, and Thailand. At age 20, she eventually settled in the far north of Sweden to study music for a year in the town of Haparanda. Here, her fascination for both the language and the land energized her; an experience that not only shaped her personally, but also helped her grow immensely in musical confidence. Shortly after, Fabienne was accepted at Zurich’s ZHdK where she obtained her master’s degrees in Pop music. It was during her studies here that she met Jonas Wolf, who recognized that she would be an exciting fit for Eluveitie and successfully connected her to the band. She became part of the group not only as a vocalist, but also took up the harp and deepened both her vocal expression and her connection to the Gaulish language at the heart of the band’s Celtic spirit.
After a warm welcome to the metal scene, Erni formed ILLUMISHADE in 2019 together with her by then close musical sparring partner Jonas Wolf, as well as Mirjam Skal, Yannick Urbanczik, and Marc Friedrich – three exceptional musicians and close friends she had met during her studies. In 2020, ILLUMISHADE released their debut album ‘ECLYPTIC: Wake of Shadows’, a concept record that resonated across the internet with its inspirational music and brought together both new and familiar listeners, primarily through its visionary sound, but also through the immersive world it built around it. Since then, ILLUMISHADE has taken their place in the scene, signing with Napalm Records, and releasing their second album: Another Side of You. Beyond that, the band continues to captivate global audiences with regular international tours and festival appearances across Europe and North America.
As Erni manages her time alongside touring the globe with Eluveitie and ILLUMISHADE, she also hosts her own Patreon channel, connecting with a vibrant community of fans worldwide. It’s no surprise that her dedication and musical instinct have led her to explore additional instruments, including the ukulele and bouzouki, while also expanding her vocal skillset with techniques like screaming. Thanks to her distinctive voice and artistic openness, Fabienne has also been invited to contribute to a wide range of musical collaborations, such as with Feuerschwanz, Mortemia, TVINNA, Lindsay Schoolcraft, The Dark Side of the Moon, Temperance, Seas on the Moon and Off the Cross.
