At the beginning of the nineties, four young people in Hünxe, North Rhine-Westphalia, decided to make music under the name CRACK UP. In 1994 they released “Forsaken Dreams”, a demo that caused a sensation in the German and European death metal underground. 1996 saw the release of “Blood Is Life”, the highly acclaimed full-length debut.
Anno 2023, this long out-of-print gem is now being reissued. A remaster was deliberately avoided, as any modernisation would probably be at the expense of the spirit that blew through the scene at the time and which you can almost breathe through the original production from Andy Classen. Only the artwork has been reworked.
“Blood Is Life” will be rereleased on 28 April with the demo songs as bonus tracks for the first time on all common streaming platforms, as well as on CD at MDD and selected mailorders. From 19 May it will be available in stores everywhere! If you have no idea what to expect beforehand, just check the visualiser for “Unburden” on the MDD YouTube channel!
