R.I.P. Gary Moore…
According to BBC News, renowned rock guitarist Gary Moore has died.
Moore, 58, was, originally from Belfast, and was a former member of the legendary Irish group THIN LIZZY. Adam Parsons, who manages THIN LIZZY, told the BBC that Moore had died in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Moore was reportedly found dead in his luxury hotel room in the Costa del Sol. He was said to be on holiday at the time of his death.
A postmortem is due to be carried out later in nearby Malaga.
In a career dating back to the 1960s, Moore played with artists including Phil Lynott and Brian Downey as early as his secondary school days, leading him to a membership twice with the Irish rock band THIN LIZZY.
Moore has shared the stage with such blues and rock luminaries as B.B. King, Albert King, COLOSSEUM II, Greg Lake and SKID ROW (not to be confused with the glam metal band of the same name), and has had a successful solo career.
Moore had a string of hits in the 1970s and 1980s, including “Parisienne Walkways” in 1979 and “Out In The Fields” in 1985.

The members of THIN LIZZY have released the following statement regarding the sudden death of the band’s former guitarist Gary Moore:
“It is with great sadness we hear of the passing of Gary Moore. Our thoughts go out to Gary’s family at this time and our memories of Gary and his contribution to THIN LIZZY and music in general will live on forever.”
Commented THIN LIZZY drummer Brian Downey: “I am in total shock. I have known Gary since 1967 when he was in PLATFORM THREE and he’s been an amazing friend ever since. It was a pleasure to play with Gary again in 2006 after his days with LIZZY. He will always be in my thoughts and prayers and I just can’t believe he is gone.”
Added THIN LIZZY guitarist Scott Gorham: “Playing with Gary during the ‘Black Rose’ era was a great experience, he was a great player and a great guy. I will miss him.”
