Saimaa Open Air has issued the following update:
A contract has been signed for the legenday Scorpions to play in Saimaa Open Air as the main act. They will play on a giant stage on the 22nd of July. Their gig in Saimaa Gardens is part of their farewell tour ”Get Your Sting and Blackout” World Tour. The band has previously informed that this is their farewell tour.
“It’s fantastic to imagine the band playing when the sun is going down and lake Saimaa is glistening in the setting sun and hear: ”Wind Of Change”, ”Still Loving You”, ”Rock You Like a Hurrigane” and on the stage to see this awesome show”, the festival promoter Teemu Vehkaperä sets the tone for the event.
Scorpions is known as a great live performer, whose shows are unforgettable. With their latest record ”Sting in the Tail” the band really showed the world again that they are on! Scorpions‘ show has gigantic proportions. The stage is about 20 meters wide and for the transportation of PA-systems, speakers, lights and screens, there are several trucks needed. “We are very happy to have secured one of the hard rock legends to play in here Saimaa Gardens”, continues Vehkaperä happily.
“The contracts for the other bands playing here in Saimaa Open Air on Friday are very close to finilizing. We will see for example Stratovarius. This is one of the only festivals they will come to play this summer. Friday we will also have: Mokoma, CMX, Uniklubi and Problems.”
“Saturday is full of happy girl power as you can see on the stage Laura Närhi, Anna Abreu and Muska. But the night is not just for the girls, you can also enjoy Martti Servo & Napander and Poets of the Fall. The main artists for Saturday will be announced on the 10th of May”, tells Communications Manager Titta Pitman from Saimaa Gardens. The tickets you can buy starting from 11th of May.
Saimaa Gardens is located only 6km from the center of Imatra and about 35km from Lappeenranta. Agreed amount of the ticket sales will go to Hyväri, which is a charity organization in Imatra.
