Legendary vocalist BLAZE BAYLEY (WOLFSBANE – ex IRON MAIDEN) has posted this message on his official website:
“ i wish you a metal xmas, and hangoverless new year.
this is my xmas message. many important leaders and religious types do this sort of thing. i just wanted to say a few words to you my incredible wonderful fans so you would know I’m thinking of you at this time of year, and you now have an alternative to those all the other non metal xmas messages.
as i look back over this last year it has been amongst the best and worst of years of my life and my career in music. the lows have felt crippling and desperate. the highs have been euphoric and intoxicating.
i have split with the band that recorded and toured “the man who would not die” and “promise and terror”. i tried so hard to keep it together, but the gods and the stars and that swiss mountain, and the british government and my mental health and the scratch cards and the lottery were against us.
now i have started a new kind of therapy called cognitive therapy to try and resolve some of my long term mental health problems. i know it will be a long road but i have taken the first steps toward a future that was not mine a year ago. recording a great album and doing a crazy tour with the reformed wolfsbane as well as lots of shows of my own and witnessing the birth of my first child, a beautiful baby girl, have been some of the highlights.
in science wonderful discoveries of faster than light particles and the almost proven existence of the Higgs Boson (god) particle and new theories in cosmology that question the big bang theory and propose that there is a mulitverse, and the discovery of new earth like planets orbiting distant suns. its an exciting time for those of us who believe as i do, that everything is bigger, smaller, older and more obvious and important than some people want us to think they are.
back here on earth, black sabbath will reform with the original line-up and make an album and do some festivals and a tour. also the olympics will be in the UK. but i won’t be competing this year because darts still has not been recognised as an olympic sport LOL. and there is no news of black sabbath, iron maiden, or judas priest or me playing the opening ceremony.
as i look forward, i hope for a positive year for all of you who have supported me and had faith in me and believed in me. i wish every one of you the very best in the coming days, weeks and months.
work has now started on my new album. with luck it should be ready at the start of my tour on the 8th of march 2012 in belgium. the new album and the tour are called “the king of metal”. over the many years i have been a professional singer, and through my ups and downs, i have noticed how some artists and bands take their success and their fans for granted. for me there is no heavy metal without heavy metal fans. i am dedicating the new album and tour to my fans and the fans of heavy metal.
it is called “the king of metal” because you the fans are the real kings of metal. each one of you that buys albums and merchandise and tickets to gigs, is a king of metal to me. i will try and keep the ticket prices as low as i can where ever it is possible on this tour. as a thank you to my hardcore loyal fans, the next big bash will be a free all ages show, but under 16s must bring an adult. even though it’s free you will need a ticket. tickets are available at my webshop. please don’t order a ticket unless you are definitely going to the show, because there is only a 300 capacity at the venue. it’s on sunday 20th of may at the public in West Bromwich, England.
yes it is you. each one of you is the king of metal.
in the next year i will be touring in lots of different countries including my first tour of Australia and my first solo tour of canada. i’ll be playing about 100 gigs in venues big and small. i hope to meet you and tell you in person how much i appreciate your support.
my thoughts are with any one of you, who are grieving the loss of a loved one or spending your first xmas without them. in our quiet moments its natural to miss some one who cannot be with us. if it all gets a bit too much, we can only do our best to stay as strong as we can and cope as best we can.
to all of you.
my friends
my supporters
my fans
i wish you the very best this yule tide has to offer.
have the best xmas and new year you can.
be gentle with your self, avoid too much rich food and drink plenty of water.
peace on earth.
good metal to every one.
cheers
