AEROSMITH returned to the stage last night (October 26th) at the Jockey Club in Asuncion, Paraguay after singer Steven Tyler fell in his hotel bathroom, hitting his face and losing two teeth after he apparently became dizzy due to gastrointestinal problems forcing the cancellation of the concert on Tuesday (October 25th). Tyler appeared on stage with a black eye and had two new teeth implanted.
Lead guitarist Joe Perry tweeted: “Steven even played harp with his busted lip my mind was blown. He put on one of his best shows ever. Aerosmith rocks on. Gotta hand it to Steven for playing the show tonight considering how sick was from food poisoning the night before. He’s amazing.”

Mark “Barney” Greenway of British grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH will join Danish metal rock ‘n’ rollers VOLBEAT on stage this coming Saturday, October 29 at the HMV Forum in London, England to perform the VOLBEAT track “Evelyn”.
In April 2011 interview with Straight.com, VOLBEAT vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen spoke about Barney‘s appearance on the studio version of “Evelyn”, which appears on the band’s fourth album, “Beyond Hell/Above Heaven”.
“Writing a song like ‘Evelyn’ was my way of showing people that it was not only the ’50s elements we were inspired by, but we were actually growing up with a lot of great metal bands,” Michael said. “And NAPALM DEATH was one of the first extreme metal bands I was listening to — I was listening to them when I bought my first guitar. So being able to have a singer like Barney from NAPALM DEATH on my record was a real accomplishment. It’s great to see that it’s actually possible for dreams to come true, in a way.”
VOLBEAT will release “Live From Beyond Hell/Above Heaven” in Europe on November 21 via Vertigo/Universal on double DVD, Blu-ray, limited double DVD + audio CD, CD, digital download and VOD.
Filmed on 11 cameras, leaving no musical stone unturned, this is as close to a backstage pass as you can get. And joined by such musical greats as Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano of ANTHRAX/THE DAMNED THINGS, Michael Denner (MERCYFUL FATE), Mille Petrozza (KREATOR), Jacob Øelund, and L.G. Petrov (ENTOMBED), viewers also witness VOLBEAT in a rock and metal Hall Of Fame.
Dane Wolf, known to many throughout the metal community as a skilled guitar tech, tour manager, and overall kind & hardworking human being, was badly beaten in Denver, Colorado last week while on the Death Angel/Testament/Anthrax tour. As a result, he had to drop off the tour and was recently released from the hospital in Denver. Dane’s mother, Jenna Wolf, issued the following statement on Dane Wolf’s Give Forward fundraising page:
“Please help in whatever way you can by assisting with his medical bills and upcoming travel expenses to and from Colorado when things go to court. There will be additional medical costs in the future as well, as he continues to recover and requires follow-up care. The goal has now been raised due to the amazing response of Dane’s friends and family. Thank you so much for your continued support, and for sharing the link, and his story!”
The goal is to raise $7,500.00 to pay Dane’s medical & travel expenses. Thus far, $3,760 (50%) has been raised. YOU can help a metalhead who worked a metal tour you attended by visiting GiveForward.com/DANEWOLF and donate what you can. Every dollar helps!
Monday’s online update from Dane Wolf:
“The doctor’s appt. went well today, and I have been deemed travel ready and will be finishing my recovery with my Mother who has been worried sick, and kitty cat in Saint Louis! I leave on my first flight in a few hours.
My brain IS there, and looks alright 🙂 stitches come out in another week, chicks dig scars, right? I am trying a different pain medication to see if it can reduce side effects, as I am still battling major headaches as my fractures heal and the swelling subsides. I will be meeting with a specialist in Saint Louis to determine if I will require surgery to repair my orbital socket, fingers crossed.
None of these options would have been available without your help, I am so grateful to spend the rest of my recovery with Mom, because we all know that no one takes care of you like mom does.
The many positive actions this week so far outweigh the negative in my mind, that I can’t help but look forward to getting healed and paying it back to others. I will be back in The Bay with all you crazy fuckers when I’m fully Dane again, and back out on the road with my brothers and sisters when duty calls. Thanks to my Uncle Brad, cousin Brandon, doctors, nurses, police, and friends in Denver for watching over me 🙂 I will welcome seeing my Saint Louis friends as soon as my body tells me I’m ready to do so, as I will be strictly following doctor’s orders to give it the full opportunity to rest and recover as I have been.
Thank you all, so much, once again.
Much Love Dane”

Former JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Kenneth “K.K.” Downing has posted the following message on his official web site:
“I hope that you have had a great summer season and that you all had lashings of metal from your favourite bands. I am just on my way to a HOSTILE gig in Birmingham to get a good metal pounding myself.
“It’s great news that the band has now procured a release for their debut album, ‘Eve Of Destruction’. It seems forever since a band from the Birmingham-area last made an impression on the metal world. I am anticipating that this young band will raise the flag for Midlands metal and join the ranks of their predecessors. With Ian‘s [Hill, JUDAS PRIEST bassist] son Alex in the band now, how befitting that would be.
“On that note, I must urge everyone to try pay for their music because without your support our beloved metal will become an endangered species if it is not that way already.
“I have many friends and associates that once had a good career and prospects; these include producers, record engineers, managers and of course many musicians. Now most of them are struggling to make ends meet and stay in the business. Unfortunately it is now virtually impossible for new bands to make any headway at all.
“I know that many bands are making pretty decent records in their bedrooms or garages, but just think what we are missing — even as good as we thought we were back in the day we would never have made the records we did without the professionals that helped us to achieve our goals. It is essential to get things back on track, in order that the young musicians can afford the help of good experienced engineers and producers. But that will never happen until record labels start signing again and give the financial support that is much needed for this to happen. To get this on track, all of us need to endeavour to pay for our music if we can in order to secure the future of metal which we all hold dear to our hearts.
“Just imagine if downloading was available in the sixties or seventies? I guarantee that the great metal legacy that we know today would not exist or at least not as we know it.
“If there is one thing that I would like to take with me to my grave, it would be to know that all of the young and new talented players out there would at least have the fair chance to make it in the way that I did.
“Many thanks again for your continued support.”
Downing, whose retirement from the band was announced in April, issued a statement regarding his departure from the legendary heavy metal group on the eve of its farewell tour. Downing said, “It is with much regret that I will not be with you this summer. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your concerns about my health. Please rest assured that I am OK. There has been an ongoing breakdown in (the) working relationship between myself, elements of the band, and the band’s management for some time. Therefore I have decided to step down rather than to tour with negative sentiments as I feel that this would be a deception to you, our cherished fans. However, I would urge you to please support the PRIEST as I have no doubt that it will be a show not to be missed.”
The band has recruited 31-year-old British guitarist Richie Faulkner to replace Downing on the tour, with singer Rob Halford saying, “K.K. can never be replaced; he’s unique, and we didn’t want any kind of K.K. copycat. Richie Faulkner came to Glenn‘s [Tipton, guitar] house to jam, and Glenn simply told me he was absolutely brilliant.”
Although PRIEST plans to stop touring extensively after this run, the band will continue to record and intends to issue a new studio album in 2012.

THIS EARTH IS BLUE LIKE HELL
Just crazy and probably presumptuous (the Swedish will hate me now…), your favorite author will seek an incredible challenge, that never mention almost a sacred name of Dissection (and there Steffen Kummerer will kiss me, tears in the eyes) in his fabulous new column dedicated to the best of dark Metal that I love so much… But “crazy!” you yell , with the Pack, lie, prepared a pounce on the gentle lamb I am…
Therefore, see this soft (but scarred) Foodland which leads me, drives me every day a little bit more to the inaccessible gemstones of the night, these mysterious stars , Yes, this motherland, immeasurably large, these forests are my cradle, this snow blinds the most reckless, on which noble conquerors have disemboged blood and guts, for a little more railway, copper, wood, for a little more of life, a little more freedom, the crucified land is the gift that I have to leave to future generations, a parchment inked love and hate, hope and dropout…
This land that flouts their feet today the (anti?) cosmic magicians THULCANDRA, with their second album “Under A Frozen Sun”, (following the already superb “Fallen Angel’s Dominion”, which entered delightely my heart, making me jumping with in the sink of a beloved melancolia, a pit of pleasure), a German real condensed swedish soul from 1990s metal when the visionary (but not very sharp) Øystein Aarseth was still alive and that Fenriz was not yet fall in a acid-trip, when Black Metal was a threat.
Pulling of darkness (Obscura?) here it looks under hellish deflagrations album of recognition among his peers now. No low profile (an intense collective work), gifted students exceed master(s). Pachydermic production but spectral with Darkthrone or Vinterland collision, it is robust, blood animed are not anaemic (Steffen Kummerer – Vocals, Guitar, Acoustic Guitar + Sebastian Ludwig – Guitar + Tobias Ludwig – Bass), and it carries torrents of emotions, neurasthenic roller-coaster, but refreshing at the end (there, you see, I am “always”, “still” in life…).
More black than black, this intersideral metal and yet rooted deeply in the lithosphere hit all our resistors. Artwork bluish in the great tradition of the artist Necrolord, always inspired, riffs hammering neurons and skin (Black Flags Of Hate), naturalistic voice / “Das Unheimliche” (“Ritual Of Sight”), solos as an sparrowhawk to the lookout (“Under The Frozen Sun”, doom in his throbbing starts), skinned arpeggios (“In Blood On Fire”), it is chaos, but it is also a reign…
The “Aeon Of Darkness” warrior with his violated casks and his Scandinavian spirit (this piece could have found a place on any Amon Amarth)… you plundered mercilessly the spinal cord, and on land, you are defeated.
Embraced by death, will you open your lips, friend?
This vicious Kiss will not forgive and distil through you to ransom to your soul, capitulum as death seems gentle (“Echoing Voices”), as a foretaste of Paradise ( “Gates Of Eden” and its 9 mn 20′ ends up as an Opeth or Dimmu Borgir in levitation, just phenomenal).
The last song concluding the album ” Life Demise” (by the sons of Dismember, Unanimated) is an absolute tribute, it is clear that we are dealing with a heavy weight of the extreme Metal, which knows the honor of the past projects without chains or fetters (without sentence… so on step, they have to pay a heavy price too…) to a glorious destiny.
Welcome here without doubt, the talented and omnipresent Steffen Kummerer (Obscura, Hellfarht) offers you The Truth with this new album of THULCANDRA, manifesting the Intelligence Black Metal, which puts the genus (alongside others such as Wolves In The Throne Room or Endstille, in another kind) to the confines of sublime.
On my land, Steffen, you’re at home.
(I won my bet of departure…?)
