German/Swedish hard rockers JADED HEART have finished recording their eleventh studio album, “Common Destiny”, for a May 25 release via Fastball Music/Soulfood.
A video for the song “With You” was filmed on February 12 at the rock club Helvete in Oberhausen, Germany.
A picture from the video shoot can be seen below.
JADED HEART‘s last three CDs — “Helluva Time” (2005), “Sinister Mind” (2007) and “Perfect Insanity” (2010) — were made available through Frontiers Records.

On March 13, Carl Sundberg of the “Standard Ass Rock Show” on Oregon’s “real rock” radio station 101.5 KFLY conducted an interview with Maynard James Keenan (TOOL, A PERFECT CIRCLE, PUSCIFER). You can now listen to the chat below.
When asked about his views on illegal music downloading and how it has affected the music industry, Maynard said, “I think it’s a much bigger conversation. I think part of the problem with most of that is just the foundation of respect or entitlement. I think ‘entitlement’ is probably the better word. I think, just in general, our society has gotten to the point where just you click a button, you get what you want when you want it. So until we get to a point where we realize you don’t necessarily always get what you want when you want it, we’re gonna have a problem. So it stems from there. And then things like file-sharing and the Internet kind of lend themselves to that mindset. So, some day, hopefully, we’ll adjust that perspective . . . And until somebody has actually written a check to record their own record and see everything that goes into it, they don’t really understand that if you just take it… The current state of music, I’m sure there’s a lot of creative stuff going on out there, but there certainly isn’t — of course, I’m being nostalgic — but it doesn’t seem like there’s as much, creatively, going on, ’cause most people can’t afford to do it.”
PUSCIFER was the musical guest on the February 16 episode of ABC-TV‘s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”. You can now watch the “Telling Ghosts” and “Toma” performances below.
“Telling Ghosts” and “Toma” come off PUSCIFER‘s sophomore album “Conditions Of My Parole”, which was released last October via Puscifer Entertainment.
PUSCIFER‘s live performances are not to be missed. Keenan brings the unconventional atmosphere of the Verde Valley to life with a musically driven evening that merges technology, quirky characters and comedy. The Boston Globe referred to the shows as “musical theater” and the Philadelphia Weekly described the set as an “engaging performance with hilarious pre-recorded between-song skits featuring MJK alter-egos Major Douche and white-trash hero Billy D.”

Two songs from BORN OF THE STORM — the new collaborative project featuring DEVILDRIVER vocalist Dez Fafara and LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton — are available for free download from Medaifire using the links below.
According to Morton, Kevin Talley (SIX FEET UNDER, DAATH, MISERY INDEX, CHIMAIRA) played drums on the demos, with Morton handling the bass on “Dust”.
“Nowhere Fast” features a guest appearance by Ryan Lake of ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY on the first guitar solo.
Writing on his Twitter profile, Fafara previously compared the music to CIRCUS OF POWER meets “Badmotorfinger”-era SOUNDGARDEN while Morton cited Chicago doom legends TROUBLE as an influence on the material. At least 14 “killer tunes” have been written so far.
In a recent interview with NZRock, Morton stated about BORN OF THE STORM, “It’s interesting how [the collaboration with Dez] happened because essentially this is a project that Dez and I have been playing with for a long time. But what it really is, it’s two friends sending songs back and forth via email and just tinkering with stuff purely for fun. We made the mistake, I suppose… or overlooked the fact… we were tweeting with someone or I answered a question about it. I don’t even remeber exactly how it went down, it might’ve even been me and Dez tweeting back and forth. Someone caught wind of it and decided to make it a heavy metal news headline that Dez and I have a side project. [Laughs] It’s really not anything we are promoting, it’s not anything that we are necessarily working to release, it’s really just two friends having fun writing music. I think the fact that so many people are now asking questions about it and that it has generated so much interest, we may wind up putting a song or two out there just to let people put their ears on it and maybe get some feedback. But, really, the catalyst for it was that… I mean, I’m sure you talk to a lot of musicians and you probably hear this… but when you get signed to a label or when your band reaches a certain status, or when you’re on the road a lot, a lot of times the business side of things and the press… interviews, the touring, all the things that don’t have to do with strapping on your guitar or grabbing a mic and singing, a lot of the time those things can overshadow the actual creative process and I think it’s really important to do music for the sake of pure creativity and that’s the story with the project that Dez and I have. We’re not exactly sure if or when we’re going to release it. It’s really just two friends having fun.”
According to AFL.com.au, AC/DC‘s classic rock anthem “It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll)” is featured in a new commercial for the Australian Football League‘s (AFL) Australia’s Game campaign. You can check out the one-minute spot HERE.
Music producer Michael Gudinski commented: “It’s only fitting that Australia’s greatest game has adopted the world-famous rock anthem ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top’ from Australia’s most successful rock band of all time. It’s a great tribute to the late Bon Scott and a fantastic coup for the AFL to get such acknowledgment as this is the first time the band have linked themselves with an Australian sport.”
Added AFL‘s general manager of strategy and marketing Andrew Catterall: “The song represents the challenges and sheer jubilation that every AFL fan or player goes through each season. The fact that AC/DC has decided to license its song for this campaign speaks volumes. The band has never allowed a license of ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top’ in any campaign anywhere in the world before. It was going to take something quintessentially Australian for the band to even consider such a use. Quite simply, the band members are fans of Australian Rules and saw the song as a suitable soundtrack to what is Australia’s game.”
AFL fans can expect to hear the AC/DC song played before matches during the 2012 season.

Jeff Scott Soto is a man who has it all, from the voice of an angel to the looks of an Adonis and to complete the package he is a genuinely lovely guy, having witnessed him a couple of times out in public with fans.
But he’s also a man steeped in melodic rock history, with an impressive list of albums and collaborations under his belt, and he’s certainly earned the badge for man most likely to fit in with any band in this genre.
So when I received his fifth solo studio album ‘Damage Control’ I was eager to hear it and I can honestly say its his best solo release for me to date.
‘Give A Little More’ is the first track and hints at what the rest of the album is going to deliver. It has the riffs, the breaks, the catchy chorus and is a lesson in how to write a pure melodic rock song.
Onto the next track ‘Damage Control’ and it stays true to this formula, which is exactly what I was hoping would happen and luckily so does the rest of the album.
If you’ve not heard any of Jeff Scott Soto’s solo material before, then this is an album that you must get on pre-order right now. So many tracks have that euphoric feel to them, and there are a couple of ballads ‘Bonafide’ and ‘Neverending War’ to bring it down to a slower pace.
‘Damage Control’ is released on 23rd March through Frontier Records.
On March 13, Aniruddh “Andrew” Bansal of Metal Assault conducted an interview with legendary hard rock singer Jeff Scott Soto (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TALISMAN, JOURNEY). You can now listen to the chat HERE.
Soto‘s new solo album, “Damage Control”, will be released on March 23 in Europe and March 27 in North America via Frontiers Records.
An extraordinary performer and amazing vocalist, Jeff Scott Soto blasts through these hard-rocking tracks with energy and masters the transition smoothly from heavy rock to a delicate ballad.
For “Damage Control”, Jeff has turned to many of his past influences and most requested aspects of his career by blending the art of melodic rock with hard rock.
“I feel ‘Damage Control’ is more of a return to what my fans would expect to hear from me,” says Jeff. “It’s a perfect blend of my first two solo albums with Frontiers Records — ‘Prism’ and ‘Lost In The Translation’ — but also mixes in some of my favorite moments of my past bands such as TALISMAN and SOUL SIRKUS. It is heavy, AOR, hard rock with loads of great riffs and melodies.”
“Damage Control” was recorded in the fall of 2011 and features appearances and writing contributions by Jeff‘s former and current bandmates, along with many guests, including Jamie Borger and Nalley Påhlsson (TREAT), Casey Grillo (KAMELOT), Joel Hoekstra (NIGHT RANGER) and legendary Y&T founding member Dave Meniketti. Jeff states, “Y&T drummer Mike Vanderhule played drums on a track and suggested I bring Dave on but, as he is a long time friend and one on the ‘wish list’ of people I would have loved to have, I didn’t want to get an excuse that he was too busy or not interested, to my surprise I got neither… he was willing to do it and I was not only grateful but beyond pleased to work with another musical hero!”
“Damage Control” will be released in two exclusive configurations; the basic version in CD jewel box will include 11 songs, while the deluxe edition in digipak format has an additional three bonus tracks and a DVD.
