After releasing the super-heavy album, “Ravenous“, in 2009, WOLF released their sixth studio album, “Legions Of Bastards“, in April 2011 via Century Media Records which was produced by Pelle Saether at Studio Underground in Vasterås, Sweden.
There were several powerful tracks in this album but one was so special that the band wanted to shoot a video about it. “Skull Crusher” got that chance to be filmed and appear on the million WOLF ’s fans’s screens. The clip was helmed by Morningstar Film Production, which previously worked on the band’s video for the song “Hail Caesar” from WOLF ‘s “Ravenous” album.
Commented WOLF sharp tooth metaller Niklas Stålvind: “We have never had so much fun making a video as we had on this one. Smashing a car into smithereens is something we always wanted to do without cleaning up after us or get in trouble with the police. It was the best exercise/therapy you could ever wish for. I felt like I was 10 kilos lighter in both body and spirit afterwards. We had to work hard to demolish it good. A Volvo is made in Sweden and hard to tear apart — just like this heavy metal band. This one is for all the skull-crushing metal heads out there — we salute you!”
The band parted ways with guitarist Johannes “Axeman” Losbäck and replaced him with Simon Johansson (ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA, BIBLEBLACK, MEMORY GARDEN) but it was Axeman who got the chance to be in this video.
The video clip starts with a black screen then suddenly the band appears when there is pale blue light in background which does not allow to see the band’s member faces and this creates a mysterious appearance as the start. The story starts in the Wolf Auto shooting gallery, when it seems that the bands members are discussing something, however vocalist Niklas, with a dirty face looks so angry and they invite us to watch to the rest of video to find out why! The story goes even more criminal when you see they pick up few axes and hammers but this enigma won’t take a long time to be solved. You will see it’s all about a Swedish Volvo which disobeys and cannot be fixed, so our sharp tooth metallers decided; if it cannot be fixed, must be killed, bah this reminds me “What we can’t but, what we can’t tie, must die” from Helloween’s “Kill It”. In the rest of the video, it’s a battle, Metal against Metal and sometimes it looks a little bit funny, especially when the axe of one of band members broke! The battle continues till our wolves find out that they can not tear it all apart and go back to their basement to cheers with absinthe drink.
