Some information about the very worthwhile cause this event is in aid of, R.A.C.P.A.:
We Don’t Want Your Money…We Want Change!
The mission is to raise awareness of child pornography, sexual abuse, and abuse of all kinds, no matter whether it be it physical, emotional, psychological or in any other form, and whether it takes place in the Internet, at home, in schools or in public.
The chosen mediums for this are both the Internet and the arranging and hosting of musical events with the purpose of making public an ongoing concern for the welfare and wellbeing of all children across the globe.
RACP is comprised of a group of likeminded people, with no barriers regarding gender, culture, race or age, who share a common concern for the welfare of all the children and feel that not enough is being done to protect their innocence and wellbeing in the face of acts of cruelty perpetrated upon them.
And the changes we want are…
It needs to start with educating the children, equipping them to feel safe and confident enough to be able to report any kind of inappropriate advances and making sure that reporting procedures are simple and effective in both the real world and on the Internet. Filtering and monitoring software should be fitted as standard or supplied free to schools, libraries and parents.
Internet service providers should be made responsible and accountable for what goes through their networks, and mandatory legislation put into place that forces them to monitor those networks.
There should be much harsher punishments put into place for convicted paedophiles, and those that create, distribute, or collect child pornography and the post release monitoring of those individuals should be made more effective in order to try to prevent reoffending.
More time and money should be spent on research in order to try prevention of offending in the first place, and more resources put into place to provide ongoing support for victims and survivors of abuse.
We intend to lobby Parliament and encourage people to start asking where their present Parliamentary representatives stand on these issues.
