Professionally filmed video footage of HELLYEAH‘s entire May 27 performance at the Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma can be seen below.
Although it was announced last week that HELLYEAH guitarist Greg Tribbett would sit out several dates — including Rocklahoma — on the band’s current tour due to a family emergency, he performed with his bandmates at this past weekend’s concert.
HELLYEAH‘s third album, “Band Of Brothers”, will be released on July 17 via the band’s new label home, Eleven Seven Music. The CD was recorded in Dallas, Texas at Vinnie Paul‘s home studio, VP’s Upstairs Studio, and was produced by the band and Jeremy Parker (GODSMACK, EVANESCENCE), who also served as engineer.
HELLYEAH‘s “Band Of Brothers” video was filmed on March 26 at Loyal Studios in Burbank, California with director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye, who has previously worked with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, GOATWHORE, MUNICIPAL WASTE and SUFFOCATION, among many others.
Team ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC has issued the following:
DESPITE EXILE vocalist Jei Durisotti has teamed up with Dubstep giants Playma to collaborate on Playma’s new song “Destroy”. “Destroy” comes off of Playma’s latest Creepy EP, which saw its release on May 28, 2012 via Play Me Records. “Destroy” things here:
Play Me Records was voted Best Dubstep Label in 2010 and 2011 by Symphonic Distribution, voted Best Dubstep Label of 2010 by Beatport, just to name a few.
The original lineup of BLACK SABBATH — who late last year confirmed the recording of their first new album in more than 33 years and a worldwide headlining tour — had to put some plans on hold due to guitarist Tony Iommi‘s battle with lymphoma. At this time, BLACK SABBATH will perform only one show of this summer’s previously scheduled European tour. It will take place Sunday, June 10 at the U.K.’s Download festival.
So as not to let the promoters and fans down, SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne is now performing the majority of the previously scheduled BLACK SABBATH European dates (both festival performances and the headlining shows) billed as OZZY OSBOURNE & FRIENDS. These “first-ever” OZZY OSBOURNE & FRIENDS shows are featuring appearances by “special guest” musicians, including Geezer Butler (who is joining Ozzy for a special BLACK SABBATH set as a show of respect and support to their friend, Tony Iommi) and longtime former Ozzy bandmember Zakk Wylde. In addition, Ozzy is being accompanied by longtime collaborator and friend Slash at select shows, with other “special guests” set to join the tour at various stops along the way (full list of dates, appearances below).
The fourth OZZY OSBOURNE & FRIENDSconcert took place last night (Monday, May 29) at the Bergen Calling festival in Bergen, Norway.
The setlist for the show was as follows:
01. Bark At The Moon
02. Mr. Crowley
03. Suicide Solution
04. I Don’t Know
05. Killer Of Giants
06. Shot in the Dark
07. Rat Salad
08. Iron Man (BLACK SABBATH song)
09. War Pigs (BLACK SABBATH song)
10. N.I.B. (BLACK SABBATH song)
11. Fairies Wear Boots (BLACK SABBATH song)
12. Into The Void (BLACK SABBATH song)
13. I Don’t Want To Change The World
14. Crazy Train
15. Mama, I’m Coming Home
16. Paranoid (BLACK SABBATH song)
Slash, who made his first OZZY OSBOURNE & FRIENDSappearance in Bergen, wrote after the show, “Jamming with Ozzy & Friends was a blast! Too short, though! Bergen crowd looked like they were having a blast as well.”
Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.
In a recent interview with The Nervous Breakdown, Zakk Wylde stated about the setlist for the upcoming OZZY OSBOURNE & FRIENDS shows, “[Current Ozzy bandmembers] Gus G., Blasko and Tommy [Clufetos] are coming out and doing a bunch of tunes, then I come out with Blasko and Tommy and we end up doing a bunch of stuff from the era when I was with The Boss, from ‘No Rest For The Wicked’ all the way through everything I’ve ever done with him. Then Geezer [Butler, BLACK SABBATH bassist] comes out and we do a bunch of SABBATH stuff and at the end, Slash and everybody — Geezer, Slash, Gus — and we all play ‘Paranoid’.”
A short video message from DOKKEN guitarist Jon Levin from the recording sessions for the band’s new album, “Broken Bones”, at “Casa Del Dokken” can be seen below.
“Broken Bones” is scheduled for release in the fall via Frontiers Records. The drums for the CD were laid down at MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee‘s The Atrium studio in Calabasas, California.
DOKKEN frontman Don Dokken stated in a recent interview about the new album title, “[It] is a metaphor that we all have broken bones, be it from an accident, failed relationship, or a broken heart. Everybody gets wounded as we go through life, but, as they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
Dokken previously described the band’s new material as “very uptempo and heavy.” He added, “We know our fans like the classic DOKKEN sound, and this is where our new music is headed. It’s been a band of brothers doing what we love: ‘music.'”
Regarding the new songs’ lyrical approach, Dokken said, “I write what comes from the heart, I don’t believe in writing music trying to repeat what you’ve already done. I understand what the fans want but as an artist I see no point in painting the same picture over and over.”
A 30-second audio snippet of a rough-mix version of the new DOKKEN song “Burning Empire” can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.
The cooperation between Frontiers and DOKKEN started with the European release of the group’s “Lightning Strikes Again” CD in 2007. The album marked a return to DOKKEN‘s signature style with melodic hooklines and blazing guitar riffs that epitomized the band’s sound on such records as “Tooth And Nail”, “Under Lock And Key”, “Back For The Attack” and “Dysfunctional”.
DOKKEN‘s current lineup consists of Don Dokken on lead vocals, Jon Levin on guitar, Sean McNabb on bass and Mick Brown on drums.
Cleveland, Ohio thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTOR have parted ways with guitarist Pat Rabid and bassist Jamie Boulder. Rabid was a founding member in 1983 and played on the band’s classic “Maximum Destruction”debut album, released in 1985 via Auburn Records. Boulder joined in 2002 and appeared on the “Sonic Bullet” (2003), “Forever In Leather” (2007) and “Storm Of Steel” (2007) releases.
Commented DESTRUCTOR vocalist/guitarist Dave Overkill: “Pat Rabid has left the band, citing personal issues, and is unable to keep his position. Jamie Boulder has also decided to leave. Jamie fronts his own metal band, MIDNIGHT, and decided to bow out shortly after Pat‘s announcement.
“Sometimes change happens but the heart and soul of DESTRUCTOR continues to beat fast and strong. Matt [Flammable, drums] and I wish them both the best and are thankful for their years of service to the band. We will be replacing the bass and guitar positions and are looking forward to being ready to support the new record shortly. Live shows are being tentatively planned, along with select auditions in the weeks to follow. Rest assured, DESTRUCTOR is here to stay and Matt and I are positive and moving forward with conviction. Stay tuned for updates to follow and as always keep the faith!”
DESTRUCTOR is finishing up the recording of its new studio album, “Decibel Casualties”, at Supernatural Sound in Kirtland, Ohio. Tomasz Scull, guitarist for the band VENOMIN JAMES and owner of the studio, is engineering.
“We’ve had some recording delays due to the personnel problems,” adds Overkill. “There is just some vocals and a little guitar work to tweak before mixing will begin. I am confident this will be the best DESTRUCTOR release to date. There is so much energy to the songs and the production will be what our fans have come to expect from us.”
DESTRUCTOR‘s most recent lineup (left to right in photo below):

VXN, the newly formed band featuring three former members of the platinum-selling all-female ’80s band VIXEN — singer Janet Gardner, drummer Roxy Petrucci and bassist Share Ross, along with guitarist Gina Stile, who was the guitarist on VIXEN‘s “Tangerine” album — has changed its name to JANETSHAREROXYGINA (a.k.a. JSRG) to avoid any confusion between them and the band known as VIXEN.
The VIXEN trademark belongs to guitarist Jan Kuehnemund and the members of JANETSHAREROXYGINA want to make it clear that they are a completely different band.
Commented Gardner, “It feels so good to be reunited with Roxy and Share. And when we started jammin’ some old VIXEN songs with Gina, we knew this was right.”
Share Ross added, “With hits like ‘Edge Of A Broken Heart’, ‘Cryin”, ‘How Much Love’, ‘Not a Minute Too Soon’, ‘Love is a Killer’ and ‘Rev It Up’ emblazoned upon our souls, we knew it was time to resurrect our sound. We want to give the fans what they want.”
In 1987, “Edge Of A Broken Heart” climbed the Billboard chart to the Top Ten and VIXEN had hit after hit. EMI suddenly had the only platinum-selling all-female rock band of its time on their roster.
Dubbed “MTV Darlings”, the hits kept coming with “Cryin'”, “How Much Love”, “Love Is A Killer” and “Not a Minute Too Soon”. The band earned credibility as they opened up for superstars, including OZZY OSBOURNE, DEEP PURPLE, SCORPIONS and BON JOVI, to name a few. A live performance on the “Arsenio Hall” television show sealed their credibility with the fact that these girls could play.
JSRG will play a select number of casinos, festivals and showcase dates in 2013 and perform all the VIXEN hits along with new songs from their as-yet-unreleased EP. The debut gig will take place at the kick-off party as well as on board the Monsters Of Rock Cruise on March 16-20, 2013 sailing out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida bound for CoCoCay and Freeport, Bahamas.
JSRG is not to be confused with the current version of VIXEN, which consists of founding member Jan Kuehnemund (guitar) alongside Jenna Sanz-Agero (vocals), Lynn Louise Lowrey (bass), and Kat Kraft (drums).
VIXEN‘s original members Gardner, Kuehnemund, Pedersen and Petrucci appeared together on VH1‘s “Bands Reunited” in October 2004 to reminisce about their start on L.A.’s Sunset Strip and their rise to fame in the late 1980s, before the onset of grunge in the early 1990s displaced metal at the top of the charts. They also took part in a short performance for the program.
