According to Thecourier.co.uk, a campaign to get rock giants AC/DC to the top of the UK festive charts begins this weekend.
The Facebook campaign urges fans to download AC/DC’s iconic 1979 single ‘Highway To Hell’, which features Ronald Belford “Bon” Scott’s distinctive vocals.
The download attempt gets under way on Sunday and fans have been urged to keep purchasing a copy of the single until Saturday, with this year’s Christmas No 1 announced the following day.
The group now hopes to get a big boost from more than 150,000 worldwide fans who are backing the British campaign.
A spokesman for the group said: “AC/DC are celebrating their 40th anniversary as we speak. They formed in late 1973 and we are a few fans who thought it would be cool to see them at the top of the Christmas tree to celebrate their milestone.”
