Finland, Tampere based Thrash/Sleezer band TORNADO‘s frontman Superstar-Joey Severance has checked in from the studio where the band has entered to record their new album, intitled “Black President”:
By the time I arrived here from Helsinki at Studio 33 in Kuopio, Jani (Drums) and Tuomas (Guitar) were already here getting their drum and guitar sounds together as they would be recording simultaneously. Being an observer, the process was quite boring for me but the final result was well worth it as the drums sound like cannons and the guitars are heavy as fuck!
During the course of the day, Jani and Tuomas managed to record 6 songs with the other 5 being left for tomorrow. Of the ten originals on this album (musically speaking), 6 were written by me. 3 by former original guitarist Michiel “Big Maaaaaan” Rutten and 1 by current guitarist Timo Ponni with the last song being a cover of the Loudness track “Dark Desire “ . As per usual with Tornado recordings, there are no triggers and no click tracks being used. The studio itself (especially from the outside) reminds me a lot of Abyss Studio in Sweden where we recorded the debut Tornado album. Both are remotely located which makes for excellent working conditions from the perspective that there are no distractions and both have very relaxed working atmospheres. As the day progressed, we were later joined by Henri (Bass) and Timo (Guitar) which was cool having all of us here at the same time.
The songs on this album are quite diverse but very much in the vein of what Tornado does best, which is write catchy as fuck Thrash Metal. Tomorrow we will finish off the remaining songs
