SEEDEVIL was formed in October of 2009 as JIVA, in Pireaus/Greece by George Charitos, Panos Stavragelos, Spyros Stavragelos and George Karastergios in order to present and express all of their ideas and influences about their music style – Alternative-Metal. In the middle of 2010 the band’s name changed from Jiva to SEEDEVIL and nowadays the band’s line up is: Panagiotis Stafrangelos – Vocals, Spyros Stafrangelos – Guitar, George Karastergios – Guitar, Giuliano Jk – Bass and George Charitos – Drums. In 2011 the band recorded a Demo EP which consists of five tracks and is called “Brain Junctions”, at Noise Factory Studios in Piraeus/Greece. The band has participated in various live performances , competitions and festivals and their first album called ” Post Destruction” was released in electronic and music stores (I tunes, amazon, etc ) via FM Records Label. The album was officially released on October 2013 and consists of nine tracks. This album was recorded/mixed and mastered at Noise Factory Studios by Ioulios Koutsogeorgiou and is a modern metal album, which is mainly the first milestone for the band’s entire discography.
‘6-5-10’ is an opening intro of the album with a great piece of music nearer to the end of the intro you have what sounds like people walking and calling out, then it breaks into the second song. ‘Mid-Term’ starts off with a cracking riff, the vocals are clean with a bit of screamo vocal thrown in for good measure, but this is a really good start to the album. The third and fourth songs are ‘Matrix Syndrome’ and ‘Brain Junctions’ – both of these songs have some ball blistering riffs and the vocals are a mixture of clean and screamo which has a balance that works perfectly together. The fifth song is ‘Different Than You’, which starts off with a quite high tempo quality guitar riff. The vocals are again delivered perfectly and the song gets my head nodding all the way through, this is one of my favourites on the album so far.
The sixth and seventh songs are ‘After Message (Of Post Destruction)’ and ‘Another Day.’ These songs are both full of outstanding guitar riffage which makes me want to dust off the old air guitar and start rocking away around the kitchen. The vocals are a brilliant mix of clean and screamo, just what the doctor ordered in a metal album of this calibre. The eighth song is ‘Insomnia’ which starts off slowly, with a clean guitar riff then breaks into a cracking heavy riff. The vocals are delivered perfectly with the mix of clean and screamo lyrics. It then slows down for a bit near the end then picks up the tempo again within a heartbeat into an awesome guitar solo which gave me goose bumps; top quality indeed. The last song on the album is ‘K-1’ is an instrumental which again starts off slowly with some nice soothing guitar work. It then bursts into life with a quality piece, lasting for the whole song with some outstanding little pieces throughout. A great ending to the album.
Overall
This is a quality album throughout – the balance between the vocals from clean to screamo are perfect. Along with the guitar riffs and solos, you cannot ask for anything better in my own opinion. The last song K-1 really surprised me I did not expect an instrumental of this calibre is was perfectly delivered and a truly great piece of guitar work and it ended the album brilliantly. I would recommend this album to anyone.
