Polish death metal legends VADER have recently finished touring Asia. The Band has issued the tour diary for Day 11, read below:
Day 11: Show in Singapore (14.07):
By this point I was really feeling the effects sleep deprivation. No concentration, no motivation to do anything, basically a complete zombie. Now time for a nice relaxing 4-hour flight to Singapore. At least the flight was basically empty so we could at least stretch out on the plane. However, we were expected to pay for any refreshments including water and the AC was so cold it basically made sleep impossible. A truly unpleasant experience. Fuck you Scoot Airlines. Seriously, fuck you.
We were met at the airport by the promoter and taken straight to the hotel. We were all desperate for some sleep. Then came the devastating news that the rooms were not ready yet and we’d have to wait at least 1 hour, more likely 2 before we could sleep. Awesome. We went to a local restaurant and tried to eat something but we were all so tired we could barely manage anything. Even Spider. We went back to the hotel and after a lifetime we were finally able to get into the rooms and sleep for an hour before a quick sightseeing tour of Singapore.
It truly is an amazing city. A lot of the more imperialistic British architecture sits next to the classic skyscrapers that would be at home in Tokyo or Beijing. A weird mix of the familiar and the unfamiliar all built on top of each other.
Still very short on sleep it was straight to the venue for set up and soundcheck. As usual it took a lot longer than the hour that we were given. More like 2 or 3 to get the PA and all the lines working correctly. Finally soundcheck was completed and we went straight back to the hotel (via Subway – obviously. Only local traditional food on this tour!) and then rest (I don’t know exactly how long but it wasn’t enough) and back to the venue for the show. The turn out was really nice and the crowd were really happy to see Vader and our performance went down really well. It was a very tough day but we survived!
We stuck around for a meet and greet session after the show and it was really nice to see that people had really enjoyed the concert enough to hang around. There were so many people that they had to be put into groups. After we had seen everyone it was time regrettably to retire and try to get some sleep. We had around 4 hours until lobby call – which for this part of the tour was a lot – and then off to the final show in Thailand.
