There are just a few days left to vote at the prestigious Progressive Music Awards 2014. Voting at awards.progmagazine.com closes at midnight on Friday August 8.
In its short but illustrious history, the Orange Amplification presents The Progressive Music Awards, has received both critical and public acclaim for acknowledging and celebrating one of the most successful but unsung genres of music. The awards give the prog-loving public the opportunity to celebrate and give recognition to the bands they love.
Jerry Ewing, Prog Magazine Editor, says, “Voting has never been closer in many of this year’s categories, but there can only be one winner! It all sounds very cliché, but each vote really does count. So vote now to give your favourite band every chance of winning one of our prestigious gongs!”
Prog Magazine are delighted to announce that Transatlantic will be giving an exclusive and unique live performance at this year’s event. Nominated in four categories, including Album and Band/Artist of the Year, they have the highest number of nominations next to Dream Theater, which demonstrates just how big their year has been!
On playing the awards, Transatlantic said, “2014 has been an amazing year for Transatlantic – we’ve done our first main worldwind tour and now being nominated for these PROG awards – it is quite a trip. We will be there in London regardless of the outcome and we will play a loud scaled down tall short set – just to prove it wasn’t just lip syncing all the way. Yes we can actually play – and God forbid, we may even improvise a bit! The smiles and cheering is something that YOU have to provide – our simultaneous capacity is limited, after all. See you there – Greetings.”
Previous recipients of these prestigious awards include Rick Wakeman and Ian Anderson, who were named Prog Gods in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Other multi-million-selling rock legends such as Genesis, Carl Palmer, Rush and Hawkwind’s Dave Brock have also been recognised, alongside up-and-coming artists such as TesseracT, Sound Of Contact and Big Big Train, who have all gone from strength-to-strength since picking up awards.
