AVATARIUM: “All I Want” EP Details Revealed

Swedish Heavy, Dark and Poetic doomsters AVATARIUM is set to release All I Want – a five-song EP featuring two new studio creations and three live tracks – for digital release in North America on November 25th. Physical import versions in gold & black vinyl will be available from the Nuclear Blast Webshop.

The three live tracks were recorded in 2013 at the Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands, AVATARIUM’s second-ever show and the first played outside of Sweden.

Guest percussionist on the All I Want EP’s title track is Michael Blair (TOM WAITS, LOU REED). About Blair’s guest work, AVATARIUM guitarist Marcus Jidell shares:

“He showed up at the studio with a big ‘bag of tricks’ with metals, crashers, shakers and a lot of strange things which he made sound like if you throw in a punk rocker at Woodstock and feed him with psychedelic pills!”

About the new AVATARIUM studio recordings, Jidell adds: “We tried to keep things simple and spontaneous during the recordings, something I hope people will be able to hear. Also I think that Jennie-Ann Smith has reached new levels with the way she sings on both of the new songs!”

Fronted by Jennie-Ann Smith, AVATARIUM is the brainchild of bassist & Swedish doom metal pioneer Leif Edling (CANDLEMASS) and guitarist Marcus Jidell (EVERGREY) and includes Carl Westholm (CANDLEMASS) on keyboards & Lars Sköld (TIAMAT) on drums.

In Hindu mythology, an avatar is the incarnation of a god on earth. The Latin “-arium” means “a place for.” Therefore, in the words of Edling, an “avatarium” is “a place anywhere, of any size, where you can worship your demi-gods. Could be a singer, a politician, [Black Sabbath guitarist] Tony Iommi, an actor, a historical figure, porn actress, etc.”
