Spain’s progressive metal/rockers OBSIDIAN KINGDOM are streaming their ambitious debut album, via Season Of Mist, ‘Mantiis – An Agony in Fourteen Bites’ here.
Regarding the reissue release, OBSIDIAN KINGDOM comments:
“We feel there could be no better way to introduce our debut album to a wider audience for it to enjoy and judge; a post-modern rock opera where girls and insects dance to the sound of an eerie tune that will delight progressive music lovers from all over the world.”
‘Mantiis…’ is a concept album featuring a single song divided into fourteen tracks, which flow across different genres. With a progressive character and a post-modern approach, the musical influences can be traced from the melancholy of Akira Yamaoka to the heaviness of CULT OF LUNA, including the experimental style of ULVER. ‘Mantiis – An agony in fourteen bites’ was mastered by Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA) and features artwork by Ritxi Ostáriz (IHSAHN, ULVER) and Elena Gallen (KULTE, VICE). The album art for ‘Mantiis – An agony in fourteen bites’ can be found above.

OBSIDIAN KINGDOM, an independent music project founded in Barcelona in 2005, first received acclaim from the European indy scene through their self-released concept album ‘Mantiis – An Agony in Fourteen Bites’ (2012). OBSIDIAN KINGDOM defy both tradition and their black metal origins, as they create their own unique style eschewing conventions and genre boundaries. The band is slated to release a new full-length later next year.
