Mike Malyan, drummer with English progressive metallers MONUMENTS has posted a drum cover video of himself playing along to Dubai extreme experimental metallers BENEVOLENT‘s track ‘The Seeker’. Check it out below:

Mike reveals the story behind this video:
“Rewind to Euroblast 2014. It’s october, I find myself in germany after spending 3 awesome months in the USA touring with Monuments. I caught wind via Facebook of an awesome Dubai based band called Benevolent, needing a drummer to fill in to be able to play their set at Euroblast, 2 weeks before the show.
Sadly as soon as I get into Koln after the long drive from London, I received word that the band couldn’t get their visas and would have to cancel the slot. This sucked, but I vowed to at least release a video of one of my favorite songs from the set, called Seeker.
This was much more relentless than I anticipated. Although these parts are not as fast as some speed players can handle with ease, I found myself completely out of breath and struggled to get through the session. Through pacing and coffee I managed to complete it in multiple takes (hence the constant cutting). There isn’t an edit in sight, other than the switching between audio/video synced takes.
I managed to get this recorded in my little bit of free time between other work and packing for tour, with only 10 minutes given to recording a single take of the Zomboy cover, which turned out awesome straight away,
Enough babbling, enjoy the video! Thanks for checking it out, and I will be planning a new video session soon now that I am recovered from my stint of RSI/Tendonitis.
Thanks again to Vibe Drums, Meinl Cymbals and Promark Sticks for the awesome support!”
