Despite having your head in the underground and possessing a knowledge of all genres and sub-genres, sometimes all it takes to move you is a band like MALOIC who’re admittedly simple but so passionate that you can’t help but reminisce fondly about your early metal days when you were less of a critic and more of a music fan (no offense to anyone!). MALOIC is from a small coastal town of Mangalore (not to be confused with Bangalore), and they tell us a bit about themselves in their video premiere article over HERE.
Old School Death Metal MALOIC are a revelation. They’re creating music using elements of various genres and creating heavy metal music that has that undeniable classic quality to it. Reminiscent of bands like AMORPHIS (mid-period), OBITUARY, PRIMORDIAL, SENTENCED and METALLICA, it’s definitely got a nostalgic and folk-ish feel to it. The instrumentation is brilliant and with mixing and mastering done by one of the most reputed studios in the country, it’s a delight to listen to. The music is instantly memorable, catchy and will have you reaching for the repeat button. Taking into account the fact that the band is only from a small coastal town called Mangalore, the music that we have here is simply overwhelming. This is the reason why we listen to extreme metal – it’s full of passion and full of surprises.
MALOIC is gearing up for the release of their debut full length titled ‘Death’, via Transcending Obscurity Records, and they also have a brand new music video for the opening track Foul Blood, watch it here.
