From 1981-1989 over 200 slasher movies were made. Swedish thrash metal band F.K.Ü. have decided to pay a special tribute to the main-focus year 1981, known as the ultimate year of the slasher movie genre. The year that delivered a great deal of slasher movies that are considered genre classics to this day!
The goal with the new album, inspired by Corpse Mania, Night School as well as the timeless classics Halloween II and Friday the 13th Part 2 was to take the listener back to the old days. Back to when you and your friends went to the local video store to rent video cassettes, long before this thing called the internet.
F.K.Ü also celebrate 30 years as a band this year, so the connection to the eighties is going to be very strong and celebrated all through this album campaign.
After signing a record deal with the Swedish record label Despotz Records, Larry, Pete, Pat and Emp entered The Overlook Studio in Gävle to begin work on the album. ‘1981’ was produced by F.K.Ü., recorded by William Blackmon, mixed by Lawrence Mackrory & Daniel Bergstrand at Dugout Productions, mastered by Lawrence Mackrory at Obey Mastering and with astonishing artwork by Tom Hodge – The Dude Designs.
The new album is a horror experience on the same level as those old school slasher classics. So, sit back, grab the popcorn, call for pizza and invite your friends. This twisted and demented world of knife wielding maniacs has only just started. Let the body count begin!
