Powerhouse HYPERIA release a second single after their recent lyric video to Prophet Of Deceit. In-your-face sounding yet melodic, the band makes us raise our glasses with the new song Automatic Thrash Machine. Once again, the Canadians prove their ability to impress with fast riffs, terrific female screams that rival old-school thrash legends, and groovy melodies. Straight-forward thrash with sophisticated structures expressed by every instrument describe this party anthem in the best possible way. Automatic Thrash Machine shows the fun side of HYPERIA!
The music video is exactly what fans can expect when they come to see HYPERIA at a live show. Cherishing the memories of creating the film footage, HYPERIA explain: “We shot this video at a cool underground venue in Vancouver that our bassist actually works at. We wanted to create a casual house party or show atmosphere by inviting some of our close friends to come out and enjoy a kegger with us. It took some time but eventually people got enough beer in them to let loose and start thrashing. This video shoot was also our farewell to our guitarist Dave Kupisz who we parted ways with shortly before.”

The now two already released singles are a forecast to HYPERIA’s upcoming album The Serpent’s Cycle, scheduled for release on November 17th. Dealing with the deep psychology of the human ego and narcissism as well as the severe consequences of our social structures, it also shows lightheartedness with two tracks about the joys of booze and partying – including a glorious cover of the HEART hit Crazy On You! Fans of early Bay Area thrash and neoclassical guitar melodies will love this sound. Especially Colin Ryley’s guitar leads and brilliant solos have the power to carry you through a record that holds some of the fastest and most aggressive songs HYPERIA has written to this day. The band pushed their limits, as they state: “It consists of everything HYPERIA stands for – shred, speed, and intricacy.”

With their first EP Fish Creek Frenzy, the Canadians showed that old-school thrash can definitely be revived and renewed. Insanitorium (2020), their following debut album, convinced listeners with technical skill. Singer Marlee Ryley performed in an outstanding manner, her vocals reminded of shouters like Kyle Thomas of the 90’s thrash formation Exhorder. And the creativity of HYPERIA didn’t stop there – the band released Silhouettes of Horror as their second full-length in March 2022. Constantly improving their sound and songwriting, the band created a menacing soundwall with this record. Oscillating between topics such as sleep paralysis, horror stories and mental health, aggression and madness jumped out of this music and abducted listeners into a world like an asylum. The four thrashheads even included an ABBA cover in a fancy metal version. Success showed quickly – the album was among the ‘Top 10 Best Thrash Metal Albums of the Year’ in Metal Hammer 2022. HYPERIA are ready to release their next banger The Serpent’s Cycle in November 2023.
