Norwegian pop/rock group KALANDRA have released a brand new single, “Bardaginn”. The title means ‘fight’ or ‘battle’, whether it’s experienced from within or out in the real world. The meaninglessness of it all, yet the importance for humans to find meaning in fighting for something, or someone.
The release is accompanied by a stunning music video by Ragnarok Film which can be viewed below.
Vocalist Katrine was curious about making a timeless lyrics using the Old Norse language. She teamed up with Norwegian lyricist and language consultant Alexander Lykke, and together with guitarists Jogeir and Florian and drummer Oskar, they’ve created a song unlike anything Kalandra has ever composed before.

The band comments: “For our next single release we all knew it was important for us to try and challenge ourselves creatively, and yet still somehow manage to keep that light playfulness in the creative process, where absolutely anything was allowed. Although it at times seemed like an impossible task to piece together, it feels as if we’ve managed to really pull out the best in every member of the band, and really showcase what we’re made of, both individually and as a team.
Bardaginn is fun, but also bloody serious. We’re very proud of each other and what we’ve made, and we can’t wait to play it live.”
The song is out on all digital streaming platforms today. Listen HERE.

Spearheaded by four Norwegian/Swedish musicians, Kalandra is a band with roots in melancholic Nordic folk and gritty guitars, weaving ethereal melodies into raw and eerie musical landscapes.
After amassing over 5 million views on YouTube with their cover of Wardruna’s “Helvegen” (released as a digital single), self-releasing the two acclaimed singles “Brave New World” and “The Waiting Game” and composing two tracks for the HBO Nordic series “Beforeigners”, the band released their debut full-length album in 2020 via By Norse Music.
In 2021, the four piece followed up with a soundtrack for the game Kingdom Two Crowns: Norse Lands and toured Europe with Norwegian prog band Leprous in the year after. Now, the band is preparing for a new album and a tour with A.A. Williams, this winter.
