On May 3rd, New York’s IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT is poised to release a revamped version of their 2018 album, “Vile Luxury,” remixed and remastered by long-time contributor Colin Marston (Krallice, Gorguts).
This rendition of the album, initially a benchmark for extreme music, represents a new perspective on the seminal record, often hailed as their most accessible. The redubbed video for “Swarming Opulence (Redux 1924)” provides a glimpse of this fresh approach.
“Swarming Opulence (Redux 1924)” is introduced as the first preview, offering a reinterpretation of the track that pushed Imperial Triumphant into the spotlight during the new roaring twenties. Steve Blanco (bass) reflects on the essence of the single, describing it as a exploration of dark intentions that drive individuals to commit heinous acts.
In conjunction with the album release, Imperial Triumphant collaborates with avant-garde artists, including House of Masks (AJ Good, Slipknot), Paleface & Company, Joshua Everetts, and Trash Bag Ghosts, to create the limited edition Masque of Mercury. This collection of highly collectible masks, presented in an extremely limited hand-numbered box, showcases the collaborative opulence of Imperial Triumphant and House of Masks.
Since 2018, Imperial Triumphant has carved out a unique sound, blending eclectic black metal, claustrophobic notions of free jazz, and urban cityscapes as canyons of horror. The band, known for tours alongside Behemoth, Zeal & Ardor, and Voivod, continues to push musical boundaries. Additionally, they digitally released a series of covers in 2023, receiving critical acclaim.
