Cairo Knife Fight have released a new EP ‘Dream Season,’ their first collection of songs since their 2017 album ‘Seven.’
Reflecting on the journey since their last release, Gaffaney states, “Dream Season is our first collection of songs since our last album ‘Seven’ in 2017. Those years have been full of myriad ups and downs, like all lives, so it’s great to see the shore again and be still here, still working.”
The EP’s artwork, crafted by Barny Bewick at Indium Design, is a tribute to Théodore Géricault’s iconic painting “The Raft of the Medusa.” Gaffaney highlights the importance of the creative team surrounding the band, saying, “We sometimes don’t talk enough about the creative work that surrounds a band, and we’re very fortunate to have a group of creative people who have been there with us since the beginning. That might be the legacy of this band that I’m most proud of.”

Previously, CAIRO KNIFE FIGHT released a live version of their 2011 track ‘The Violence of Action’ via Golden Robot Records, bringing fans a powerful, raw live performance that captures the essence of the band’s dynamic sound. The release of ‘The Violence of Action’ feels timely, and it’s still one of my favourite songs, even after all these years,” shares frontman Nick Gaffaney. “It takes me back to the early days of the band, when we were forcing equipment to do things in the looping world it was never designed to do and running with the inspiration wherever it took us.”
‘The Violence of Action’ was originally written in a storage unit in Christchurch, New Zealand, where the band endured the biting winter with only glow-in-the-dark carpet to muffle the sound. This unique environment played a crucial role in shaping the song’s raw energy. The newly released version is a live performance recorded at Kingsize Soundlabs in Los Angeles in 2015, capturing the unfiltered and visceral essence of Cairo Knife Fight.

Cairo Knife Fight is redefining what two musicians can create live, slaying audiences across the globe with their beautiful, yet raw and primal uniqueness. Formed in New Zealand, and now splitting their time between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Cairo Knife Fight is:
Nick Gaffaney on lead vocals, drums and keyboard bass (all at the same damn time) and…
George Pajon Jr. (Grammy winning guitarist for some of the biggest names in the business: Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Carlos Santana, Macy Gray, John Legend, Nas and Sting, just to name a few) creating seemingly limitless guitar soundscapes and incendiary riffs.
The band’s incorporation of various loops and live treatments defies believability and pushes the limits of what two musicians can do on one stage.
