SOUR BLOOD is a Polish band playing alternative rock, behind which there are musicians connected with rock scene in Poznań (PL).
Band comments: “What we want to achieve artistically is explore various genres and keep our music interesting and relevant. There are no limits to it, and as much as there are directions which are very natural for us like guitar-driven rock, there is so much more to music and, hopefully, we will do justice to all of our tastes and ambitions one day. With every newly released single, we aspire to relay new emotions and sounds to enrich our musical landscapes. It’s a lot of fun to play with fresh ideas and allow yourself to reinvent that idea over and over, so we couldn’t be more excited now that we are sharing “Lacquer Eyes” with you. We have added some jazzy trip-hop influences to the palette with this one and we hope you will enjoy our take on it.“
“Lacquer Eyes” is an extremely dark and unsettling story. In our heads and hearts, it was meant to represent the Alzheimer’s disease and the relentless confusion, fear and sense of loss that come along, as well as the inevitability of it all. In the wake of the disease, it’s difficult to find hope, both for the sick and their close ones. The question we ask is: Are we all going to just fade away? Is it better to accept it or resist and fight it? Will anybody remember me?
Alternatively, the song is about anything else you will find relatable to its story and mood. There are strong undercurrent themes of closure, letting go, and helplessness, all of which may give a new meaning to the narrative and change the way the song resonates with you dependently on your experiences and feelings. We recommend listening to it when you are alone, at dark, and ready to embrace the bleakest thoughts.
