ROCKIN’1000 – The Biggest Rock Band on Earth, the musical project that gained worldwide fame in 2015 with a tribute video dedicated to the Foo Fighters, will participate on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in the Celebrations of the 35th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, organized by Kulturprojekte Berlin.
35 years ago, courageous people brought down the Berlin Wall and shortly afterwards the SED dictatorship. The fall of the Wall ended the decades-long division of Germany and paved the way for the peaceful overcoming of the communist dictatorship in the GDR. The courage of the East Germans to stand up against the SED dictatorship and the boundless joy at the opening of the Wall moved people in all parts of the world. Berlin celebrates this anniversary every five years – as a day of joy, reflection and coming together.
On November 8 and 9, a four-kilometer-long open-air installation along the former inner-city course of the Wall will commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution and the fall of the Wall, linking the demands of 1989/90 with people’s wishes and hopes for freedom and democracy today. The installation is accessible free of charge and invites visitors to explore and reflect.
The highlight on the evening of November 9 is the Festival for Freedom with the BAND FOR FREEDOM – powered by Rockin’1000, in which hundreds of musicians unite to create an experience that transcends division. Berlin celebrates what is perhaps the most important event in the city’s recent history – not without a sound, as the dividing wall once disappeared, but singing and resounding like the overwhelming joy of the people who spontaneously came together in 1989.
The BAND FOR FREEDOM Powered by Rockin’1000 is an unprecedented show that brings together hundreds of musicians, both amateurs and professionals, for a performance along the streets of the former Berlin Wall. The performance will cover 4 km, from Invalidenstraße to Axel-Springer-Straße. Nearly 1000 musicians will perform simultaneously, divided into 5 instrumental sections – drums, guitars, basses, keyboards, and vocals – with a setlist of songs closely tied to the themes of German reunification and freedom.
The event will be recorded and broadcast live on rbb TV and available for 7 days afterward on ARD Mediathek.
“It is an honor to accept such a meaningful invitation, which embodies the message of brotherhood and unity among people, a message that has always been at the core of Rockin’1000. 35 years have passed since the Fall of the Berlin Wall, a historic event that marked a new era, ending the Cold War and becoming a universal symbol of liberation” said Fabio Zaffagnini, Founder of Rockin’1000, who concluded: “Rockin’1000 returns to Germany for the second time, bringing the same overwhelming energy that set the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt on fire in 2019, in front of a sold-out stadium. This time, our stage will be the streets of Berlin. We will be there with 1000 musicians to pay tribute to freedom through the power of music.”

ROCKIN’1000 is the world’s largest rock band with one major goal: to allow anyone who can sing or play to experience the dream of every musician – traveling the world to perform in huge stadiums and special locations! It all started in 2015 when 1000 musicians played together in a field in Cesena to convince the Foo Fighters to come to Italy. The video went viral, the band said yes, and the rest is history. Today, with 100,000 musicians from all over the world, Rockin’1000 is touring globally, performing in stadiums in France, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. A group of 1000 musicians performs and plays in unison, creating fantastic experiences that remain unforgettable for both the musicians and the audience.
