Cyrene is not just an album. It’s an indictment. A punch to the gut.
It’s the latest work by ATTEMPT TO SOMEBODY’S LIFE, the Italian Alternative Metal band now officially joining the roster of Wanikiya Record/Promotion, the go-to label and press office for the national and international heavy music scene.
After their well-received debut Bridges/Latencies in 2024—praised for blending the ethereal intensity of Deftones with the raw power of Rage Against The Machine—the band returns with a bolder, grittier, and more necessary album.
CYRENE – THE ALBUM
The new record, set for release on May 19, 2025, is named after Cyrenaica, a Libyan region that also lends its name to the album’s title track.
With Cyrene, Attempt to Somebody’s Life denounce the brutality of Libyan detention camps, the systemic exploitation of humans by humans, the dehumanization of migrants, and the hypocrisies of the Western world.
The sound is raw, fierce, and real.
Drums and bass were recorded live to preserve a sense of urgency and truth.
Guitars form a wall—dry and abrasive—while the synth carves ambient and ethereal openings, symbolizing a freedom either denied or lost.
Vocals shift between sweet melancholy melodies and raging screams, striking a perfect balance between emotion and protest.
