Spain’s rowdy pirate crew, THE GROGGY DOGS, are set to release their fiercest album to date, “No Grog, No Glory,” on 23 April.
To mark their latest return to port, the band has premiered the music video for their single “One Last Toast,” a raucous, chant-heavy track that serves as the perfect call-to-arms for the album’s campaign. After plundering European taverns and leaving a trail of scorched stages in their wake, the band returns with a battle cry of punk, ska, and metal-fuelled sea shanties that is their most defiant statement yet.
The Groggy Dogs are a Spanish crew who haven’t just plundered traditional sea shanties treasure chests—they’ve spiked them with classic rock, punk, ska, and metal, then dragged the whole thing to a sweaty mosh pit, demanding everyone raise a tankard of ale and join the mutiny. Set for release in April, their new album “No Grog, No Glory” is a furious, high-energy battle cry for outsiders and misfits, built on a foundation of fiddles, accordion, distorted guitars, and choruses soaked in grog.
Formed in 2020, the band quickly established a reputation for their “hooligan edge” to maritime folk. Following their first two albums (Grog o’Clock and Still Groggin’), The Groggy Dogs spent the following years cementing an explosive, crowd-driven live reputation, storming stages across Europe and appearing at major festivals including Castlefest, Kingdom of Elfia, and Triskell Festival. Their current era, set up by new single “One Last Toast”, sees the crew sharpening their songwriting while leaning harder into the party-ska side of their sound—fast rhythms, big choruses, and grooves made for spilled drinks.
“No Grog, No Glory” captures that spirit, twisting generational sea shanties into something loud and relevant for the modern age, all recorded raw and self-produced in their own studio. Lyrically, the album revolves around the collective: the pirate crew as a metaphor for an ideal, unified society that leaves no one behind. At its core, this record is a celebration of loyalty, social unity, and resistance to authority (seen through an 18th-century pirate lens), proving that the stories of old taverns and mutinous crews still work perfectly when you turn the volume up and rally the crew.

‘No Grog, No Glory’ is out 23rd April.
