South African alternative rock outfit Snowing Down South return with their powerful new single, “Take It Or Leave It,” the first offering from their upcoming EP, No Such Place As Far Away.
Formed in 2011, Snowing Down South quickly made their mark on campus rock radio, with their breakout single “It’s Not Your Fault” holding the No. 1 spot on Tuks FM for nearly two months. Known for channeling the grit of American and British rock through a distinctly South African lens, the band built a reputation for effortlessly moving between indie, alternative and progressive textures while maintaining a raw, unmistakable sound.
After going their separate ways in 2015, the band reunited in 2023 following a late-night reunion where old songs and old chemistry reignited the spark. Now, with a newly recorded EP and a refined sonic direction, Snowing Down South are stepping into a fresh chapter.

“Take It Or Leave It” was conceived in 2022 during a period of deep personal reflection among the band members. Inspired by the words of Alan Watts — “You are enough” — the track explores the tension between self-improvement and self-acceptance. “Although it’s important to grow and improve yourself, we realised you also have to make peace with who you are right now,” the band shares. “The world around you can either take it or leave it.”
Born on an acoustic guitar in frontman Paul’s solitary writing space, the song began as a stripped-back confession before evolving into a fully realised band collaboration. Each member layered their own textures and influences onto the foundation, shaping it into what they describe as a uniquely Snowing Down South creation.
At its core, “Take It Or Leave It” is a declaration of acceptance and accountability — a reminder that sometimes strength lies in walking away, and that making peace with what cannot be changed can be profoundly liberating.
With No Such Place As Far Away on the horizon, Snowing Down South are poised to reintroduce themselves not just as a returning act, but as a band reborn — polished, purposeful, and unapologetically themselves.
