PERIPHERY, the D.C.-based prog innovators who have graced the covers of Modern Drummer, Guitar World and Revolver, return this summer with a new album, “Periphery III: Select Difficulty” which is set for a release via Century Media Records outside of North America, Australia/NZ and Japan on July 22nd, 2016.
“’Periphery III: Select Difficulty’ is finally complete and we’re extremely excited to show everyone,” said guitar player Jake Bowen.“For the past couple of years we’ve been refining our collaborative process as a band and we feel that it’s only getting better with the completion of this album. We spent two months writing songs that are not only representative of the PERIPHERY sound but also reflect where all of us are as musicians, working together has helped us tread new ground musically and creatively. In support of ‘Periphery III’ you’ll see us hit the road in the States this summer with SikTh, Chon, and Toothgrinder on the Sonic Unrest tour, it’s going to be a blast! See you on the road!”
Beforehand the band will head over to the UK to play the prestigious Download Festival on June 12.
PERIPHERY’s own Adam “Nolly” Getgood oversaw production for the album as he did with the “Juggernaut” releases. Nolly will no longer be a touring member of PERIPHERY, as he will be expanding his production work in his native UK. He remains an integral part, and a member, of PERIPHERY. At this time no decision has been made about a touring bassist.
“Touring with PERIPHERY has shown me some of the most incredible experiences I could ever have imagined, to meet amazing people all over the world and to create friendships for life; it has truly been an honour to perform in front of every audience who has watched us play over the years. However the touring life isn’t something that everyone can continue doing indefinitely, and for me, the time has come where I want to settle into a more normal existence, be able to make plans further into the future than the touring life enables, and to be able to focus more on the studio side of my music career,” explained Nolly. “I will, however, be remaining as a band member and contributing in any way that I can while the band is off the road; I love all of my fellow bandmates like brothers and I’m so grateful for the incredible support they’ve shown as I make this huge life change. I know they are going to be taking the music and performances to the next level when they hit the road later this year.”
The band will host a four-day, immersive summer camp dubbed the “Periphery Summer Jam” on July 25 to 29 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York. Registration and further information can be found here.

Texas based progressive band BIBEAU have recorded their first single and shot their first video for release everywhere around the world. ‘Mark This’, which will be released worldwide on May 3rd along with the single to radio and the digital version distribution.
The single was produced by Luke Garrigus at Blackroom Studios outside of Austin, Texas (https://www.facebook.com/blackroomstudios). Bibeau plans to record the remaining new songs with Luke in Blackroom Studios later in 2016 after the writing/demoing process is completed.
For the video, Bibeau actively recruited producer/directer Justin Mosley at Dark Letter Entertainment (c) to bring the band’s post apocalyptic video to life. Justin, wrote, produced and director the film, “The Devil’s Deal”, which was recently released
internationally through Lionsgate (Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation) and the trailer can be viewed here:
“The Devil’s Deal” is a western/horror film with a premise that revolves around an the old western town in an old western time. The plot involves the return of a missing clergyman who calls a ceremony, the townspeople are thrust into a night of madness and death. The remaining townspeople must fight to keep not just their lives, but their very souls.
“We wanted to shoot the video with a heavy emphasis on our performance. At the same time, everyone in the band knew we needed to balance the five plus minute song with a narrative that reflected a potential post apocalyptic vision of the future“, said Drew Theiring (vocalist/songwriter). “We also wanted a video that incorporates some of the elements from our artwork, band logo and live show written into the video treatment’s storyline” he added.
“We were also hoping to convey the look, feel and flow of some of the classic, timeless rock and metal videos from the height of MTV’s popularity, said Robin Bibeau (guitarist). “At the end of the day, we were all confident that Justin Mosley was our guy to help us pay homage to the classic video era.”
The ‘Mark This’ video also features talented actress and model, Courtney Bridges (https://www.facebook.com/Courtneyinaction) who perfectly creates the feel and despair of life in a post apocalyptic world. Justin Mosley commented, “just finished the “Mark This” music video for Bibeau! These guys were super professional and a group of seriously bad ass musicians. I also had the pleasure of working with a talented actress Courtney Bridges. Everyone worked tirelessly to make a great finished product and I’m so excited for everyone to see it.” You can check out the video here:
“Mark This” will be released in digital format on May 3, 2016 through Fade to Silence Records via Amped Distribution/AWAL worldwide. Bibeau (pronounced “be-bow”, “bebo”), formed in 2009 by brothers Robin and Peyton Bibeau after spending countless hours learning and rehearsing songs by Rush, The Beatles, Metallica, Free, Iron Maiden to name a few. The brothers decided to use their family name as homage to the legendary Van Halen (brothers on drums and guitar). Bibeau is managed by 30 year music industry veteran (Spitfire Records founder, Relativity Records, Mayhem/Fierce Records) Paul Bibeau, who also happens to be the father of drummer Peyton Bibeau (15) and guitarist Robin Bibeau (19). The band worked hard the past several years to develop a large following via performance videos on YouTube, ReverbNation and Facebook before coming into their own with a rapidly growing fan base with their live show.
Bibeau has spent the past several years at the #1 spot on ReverbNation (http://www.reverbnation.com/bibeau) Rock and Metal Charts in the East Texas area. Within the last month alone, Bibeau has earned new fans from Venezuela, Iran, Italy, France, Saint-
Petersburg, Russia, Hyderabad, India, Swansea, WLS, United Kingdom, West Lorne, ON, Canada, Vancouver, BC, Canada, Tucson, AZ, Sterling, IL, New York, NY, West Chester, PA, Waskom, TX, Rainier, OR. Further evidence of a growing story is the band is currently ranked in the top 500 overall artists in America and 814 globally on ReverbNation with 5,444 demo song plays (excluding the bands’ first ever single) and 16,867 video views (excluding the bands’ first ever video).
The band has also managed to rack-up over 26,000 video views on their YouTube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/Bibeau36) which features self-produced, homemade video clips of the band performing original songs and cover versions of songs by Rush, The
Beatles, Metallica, Free, Iron Maiden to name a few. Last but not least, Bibeau has utilized social media outlets such as Facebook (over 2,443 likes), Twitter (996 followers) and Instagram (508 followers) to stay connected to their fan base and grow their musical brand.
Recently, Bibeau stayed ahead of the proverbial curve by launching a new Bibeau App for
the Itunes and Google Play marketplaces, available for free on each platform.

Google: https://play.google.com/stor/apps/details?id=com.goodbarber.bibeau
Rounded out with a strong lineup of like minded, gifted musicians, Bibeau set out to create a unique progressive sound highlighting melody mixed with complex time signatures, rhythms and arrangements. Lead by a dual guitar approach with soulful, soaring vocals and a rhythm section willing to push the boundaries, Bibeau began to craft, record and perform their own material to a growing legion of fans.
Bibeau can be best described as a musical bridge between the classic power metal from the ’70’s and ’80’s combined with the edge and attitude of today’s modern progressive metal. Hailing from East Texas, Bibeau draws inspiration from everything from Rush to TesseracT, Metallica to Dream Theater, Opeth to Tool, Led Zeppelin to Iron Maiden. Having said that, Bibeau manages to sound unlike anyone else around, mature, driven and poised for success with a purpose beyond their age.
Bibeau have been hailed as “Prog Metal’s New Breed” and have wowed audiences with their skill, advanced technical abilities coupled with their intense delivery and the sheer strength of their original material. With their new spin on prog metal, Bibeau is most certainly pushing the boundaries of music. Forged with a firm grasp of the lineage, spirit and history of the music they adore, Bibeau is comprised of Drew Theiring (formerly with Dazed) on vocals, guitarists Robin Bibeau and Alan Benek Hernández (formerly with Sirkus), bassist Chris Ray and drummer Peyton Bibeau. The best is yet to come.
Hot on the heels of the bands recent successful run as main support to TRIVIUM, UK metal band SAVAGE MESSIAH have been booked to appear as main support to TESTAMENT on a UK Tour in June. Also on the bill are BROKEN TEETH and local openers at each show.
SM Guitarist Sam S Junior comments “Testament are one of my absolute all time favorite bands and definitely one of the reasons I started playing metal! To share the stage with them on this run is going to be an amazing experience!”
The band are currently working hard on their upcoming 4th studio album. The album will be recorded at ROCKFIELD STUDIOS in Wales, site of many classic albums from bands ranging from RUSH, BLACK SABBATH to newer bands such as BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE. This record will also see Brian Wheat, founder of multi platinum US band TESLA joining as executive producer, with long time Savage Messiah producer Scott Atkins also on board. The record is scheduled for release later in 2016.
A list of tracks by a death metal band was accidentally printed on the back of a new album by English comedian Bernie Clifton, as reported on bbc.co.uk.
The 80-year-old said he was “fuming and furious” about the error, which saw songs by the band ABHORRENT DECIMATION printed on his CD.
The singer made an album of covers following the response to his audition on BBC One’s The Voice. He joked he should join the band “on the road“, while their singer said they should “work together“.
Clifton‘s track listing was mixed up with that of Abhorrent Decimation‘s album, “Miasmic Mutation”.
The comedian, who is famous for riding a yellow ostrich, said: “I’m fuming and furious… I got [the CDs] out the box and I looked on the back and here was the track listing of a death metal group.
“We could go on the road, me and the lads. We could do To Dream the Impossible Miasmic Mutation.”
The band’s singer Ashley Scott said he was alerted to the mistake after being shown an article about it on page three of The Sun newspaper.
“I thought he was going to show me some buxom blonde and take the mick out of me for being a bit overweight and bang, there’s the band.
“I definitely want to talk to Bernie about working together on something… it would be amazing.”
Mr Scott said he thinks the error occurred due to similar catalogue numbers.
Clifton, from Derbyshire, apologised to the people who pre-ordered his album and said copies would be with them shortly.
