Swedish experimental post-rock/metal mavericks, THE MOTH GATHERER, have a new album on the way, and today they have released a short teaser of the release. The follow-up to their debut instalment “A Bright Celestial Light” will be entitled “The Earth Is The Sky”, and will see its release later this year via Agonia Records.
Check out the teaser clip below:
At the moment, THE MOTH GATHERER are on the final lap of the recording process of “The Earth Is The Sky” – all songs have already been written and finished. Karl Daniel Lidén (Terra Tenebrosa, Grammy nominated Switchblade album) will take care of the mixing and mastering duties in the near future.
The Swedes came into play in 2013, with their debut “A Bright Celestial Light” – a solid first step for a newcomer, full of progressive emotions and melodic slower-sections. The album offered up long and complex compositions, yet still surprisingly simple and compelling. Comparisons to Neurosis, Breach, Pelican and Cult of Luna were not misplaced.
Watch out for more news!

Metal Shock Finland is proud to premiere for Europe the new video ‘Iwo Jima‘ by Swedish metallers LANCER. Check out the dramatic video below, based on the Battle of Iwo Jima, which took place in World War II:
‘Iwo Jima‘ is the second video to be released from forthcoming album “Second Storm”, due out on 10th April via Despotz Records. The album is a lesson in melodic metal and follows a long tradition of outstanding Swedish metal bands, such as Hammerfall, Sabaton, Enforcer and many more. The first video for ‘Masters And Crowns’ can be seen here.
Oscar Dronjak from HAMMERFALL gives “Second Storm” high praise, stating:
“Damn, this album is good! I love the new edge in the sound, it’s a little bit heavier than the debut. This record really establishes the Lancer sound! Now, I’ll give it a second spin, but I already know it will be a new favourite of mine.”
Metal Shock Finland Senior Manager Blackdiamond expresses:
“If you’re a fan of classic metal don’t miss these guys! Evoking metal sounds of the ’80’s, mixed with their own unique top quality sound, LANCER have paved a great road ahead, I wish them every success!”
The album has been recorded in the world famous Leon Music Studios with producer Gustav Ydenius (Steelwing, Mustasch, Enforcer). Lancer draws its inspiration from classical acts like Iron Maiden, Helloween and Gamma Ray, adding a personal and modern twist to the sound.
LANCER met at the Music Academy of Ingesund in Arvika, Sweden, and the common passion for heavy metal forged them together and LANCER was born. They invaded the metal scene in the spring of 2012 with their debut EP “Purple Sky”. The EP was warmly received across the world, resulting in the band signing to Swedish label Doolittle Group AB, (owned by Narnia vocalist Christian Liljegren) as well as a deal with Japanese label King Records.
In early 2013 Lancer released their eponymous debut world-wide. The album was produced by Tommy Reinxeed and Ronny Milianowicz (Hammerfall, Michael Kiske, Timo Tolkki), and it received amazing reviews from the metal press all around the world, with many naming Lancer ‘a new hope for European power metal’.
LANCER has been busy taking audiences by storm with their energetic and technically brilliant live shows, appearing at festivals across Europe as well as hitting stages with Swedish legends Wolf and Bullet as well as Steelwing and Katana.

The excitement is rising in the Evil Scarecrow camp and plans are afoot to create an even more fabulous show than was seen at Bloodstock last year, in the words of Dr Hell: “We are working on a very special show for this, one that will defy the world of physics!”
The Download show is something the band have been looking to play since their inception, not only will it be the hometown show for these Nottingham maestros of metal, it’s going to be another big first for them. If last year’s Bloodstock show at 11am on the Saturday to upwards of 12,000 people is anything to go by, this one’s going to be an absolute stunner. Make sure you’re in the 3rd stage tent early as I can guarantee space is going to be hard to find when Evil Scarecrow hit the stage. Expect the usual shenanigans, fabulous metal mayhem and much more!
The band on just what it means to play Download:
Dr Hell: “The first festival I attended was Metallica at Donnington Park in 1995. Since that life altering occasion it’s been my lifelong ambition to play this hallowed ground and I finally, finally get to shout “Scream for me Donington!” We are totally stoked beyond all belief. We are working on a very special show for this, one that will defy the world of physics.”
Kraven Morrdeth: “It’s an honour to be able to play the hallowed ground of Download. So many bands I’ve grown up with have played their most iconic shows there so we have a tall order to fill, bring it on!”
Monty Blitzfist: “We have been mentally preparing for this chance in the hope it would come around, now it’s here we feel so lucky and we’re going to put something ridiculous together.”
Brother Pain: “I have been going to Download Festival for over a decade now and it’s an honour to play on the hallowed ground of Donington Park! This will be a lifelong dream realised!”
Princess Luxury: “To play Download is the one wish I have as a member of the band…..apart from world domination.”
