With over 1.3 million Youtube-views on their first single ‘Interdimensional Summit‘, Norwegian devils DIMMU BORGIR have proved that they are back for good after over 7 years of silence. On May 4th, the symphonic black metal masters will deliver their new full-length album “Eonian” and today, they unveil their second single with a stunning music video.
The experimental, folkloristic ‘Council of Wolves And Snakes’ is risking a look far beyond the horizon and proves that the band follows ‘no formula, no absolute’, as Silenoz vows, and shows that the path sometimes guides them to places they would have never expected to end up when they started their journey.
Vocalist Shagrath states: “It’s a song that sticks out from the rest of the album, it’s DIMMU BORGIR going into an experimental direction, but you can also find a lot of black metal inspiration in the middle section of the song. We are a band that has never been afraid of trying out new directions and artistically this is surely a very interesting and different track.”

Being one of the successful extreme metal forges on the planet, DIMMU BORGIR have been dominating the symphonic black metal genre for 25 years. The songwriting core of DIMMU BORGIR furthermore consists of charismatic vocalist Shagrath, as well as the string wizards Silenoz and Galder, but other familiar faces also emerge from the darkness: Drummer Daray and keyboarder Gerlioz are still part of the team, and Gaute Storaas helped with the choral arrangements for the majestic voices of the Schola Cantrum Choir. As the title “Eonian” indicates, the band’s 10th full-length release is dealing with the illusion of time and marks a tribute to both the band’s own past as well as the Norwegian black metal history.
Metal legend SNOWY SHAW has just unleashed his new video for the track ‘My Religion ( I sold my soul to rock n´roll, that is)’, which is from his forthcoming first real solo studio album “White Is The New Black”. Check it out:

Finnish progressive metallers AMORPHIS are about to unleash their latest offering entitled “Queen Of Time” on May 18th via Nuclear Blast. Today the time has come to present the first taster of the band’s 13th studio album.
Check out ‘The Bee’, the opening track, here:
Guitarist Esa Holopainen commented: “This song is a very powerful opener and gives a nice picture of what the whole album is all about. You can already hear some new elements like choirs and orchestral arrangements in it.”
Vocalist Tomi Joutsen added: “Of course, the lyrical inspiration is a bee, also in a metaphoric way. The tiniest thing can sometimes be the most important thing. A bee can bring life or if we destroy all the bees, life will stop here. It’s a very beautiful animal, that’s why you can find it on the album cover too. The track itself is a kind of progressive and I’m sure that it will surprise some fans in a positive way. We love it!”

The album was once again produced by the famous Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, KREATOR a.o.). The cover artwork, which was created by French artist Jean “Valnoir” Simoulin from Metastazis, captures the feeling of the lyrics and the music.
Esa comments: “I guess »Queen Of Time« turned out as a massive surprise to all of us. During the rehearsing and pre-production we didn’t have any idea that Jens had this huge picture inside of his head about the landscape of the album. It’s a very natural continuation to »Under The Red Cloud« but with steroids. The songs are more aggressive but there’s more dynamics, harmonies and orchestral arrangements present. The result is AMORPHIS as something you’ve never heard before! Essentially, working with Jens worked really well. As a person he is very similar to us – we share the same kind of weird humor and we all like to work hard.”
With Pekka Kainulainen‘s (lyricist) words, the lyrical theme is universal: “Cultures rise, flourish, and are destroyed. The story of man is the story of searching, finding, and forgetting. A single spark can set the world afire, a single idea can give birth to a new culture. The greatest can stagnate into insignificance, the smallest can hold the power for change. The lyrics on this album are distant echoes of ancient forest peoples, from a time when meaning was proportioned by the cosmic forces that govern birth and death. If the connection was lost, they sought for a strand of knowledge, found a new direction, and a new age began.”

‘All Is One’ is a new documentary about oriental metal pioneers ORPHANED LAND, recorded and released by German rock TV Rockpalast.
ORPHANED LAND is the most successful rock band from the Middle East. Uniting people from all religions among its fans, the 5-piece-group from Israel has toured the whole world since the 90’s. The band’s musical blend of heavy guitars and oriental instruments is unique, but what really makes the group stand out is their contribution to the peace idea. As some fans put it “Orphaned land are doing what our political leaders fail to do, unite people everywhere“. ‘All Is One’ is more than the name of one of ORPHANED LAND‘s albums, it is the quintets philosophy claiming that all three big religious groups – Christians, Muslims and Jews – are coming from the same origin. German filmmakers Ingo Schmoll and Conny Schiffbauer visited Israel to follow the band’s path and to get a personal insight view into the musician’s life by visiting the band members at home, getting to know their families and learning about their daily life. “In the documentary we are trying to take the audience beyond the endless discussions about the conflicts in the middle east by taking a far more human approach to it all” the filmmakers explain.
Check out the full documentary:
ORPHANED LAND are presently on their “Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs” European Tour. The remainder of the dates can be seen here.
