VK Lynne, renowned for her work with stOrk and The Spider Accomplice, released her seventh single of the year, “Slam the Rock Back Down”, yesterday, July 31, 2024. The single was co-written, produced, and mixed by Cody Johnstone (Lindsay Schoolcraft, Vicky Psarakis). The power metal track is an examination of the poisonous discourse in American politics and culture.
Mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Sabaton, Halford, Faith No More, etc.), the song is being released with a lyric video created by Ayeyusif.
The LA- based singer/songwriter/frontwoman brings her plethora of eclectic musical experiences together on The Spider Queen. In the 2000’s she churned out 3 full-length blues rock records The Key of V, Black Halo, and Whiskey or Water. After the release of the latter, Lynne spent from 2010-2023 developing, writing, and singing with symphonic metal project Vita Nova, writing and singing for prog metal juggernaut stOrk, and finally, forming, writing, and performing with symphonic rock duo The Spider Accomplice.
The diverse genres of these endeavors come together on The Spider Queen to create a sound that she has dubbed ‘blues metal.’
In 2023, she toured North America and Eastern Europe with the The Spider Accomplice, supporting symphonic metal act Visions of Atlantis and rock/glam metal duo Hoekstra Gibbs, respectively.
The Spider Queen is being released, one track per month with its accompanying video, the entire year of 2024.
Echoes and Dust is hosting an exclusive premiere of an excerpt from the track “Accretion Disk Necropolis“. This is the third preview of ROT COVEN‘s debut album “Nightmares Devour The Waking World“, due out August 15th 2024 via Aesthetic Death. Stream the track at THIS LOCATION.
ROT COVEN is a 2-piece, noise-drenched industrial death metal/sludge band.
MZ sings and plays bass and drums while DD focuses more on guitar, then both members slather everything in layers of noise boxes, scrap metal, ritual drums and processed field recordings. This duo has been creating music together in various bands for around twenty years.
Born of a lifelong love of cosmic horror, heavy riffs, and creeped-out industrial noise, the band that would become ROT COVEN first saw the light of day during the COVID-19 lockdowns of spring 2020.
The initial idea was to fuse ominous dark ambient synth textures with pounding “doom” style drums, but bass, guitars, vocals, and scrap metal percussion were quickly added to the mix resulting in a room-shaking cacophony equal parts Autopsy, Chu Ishikawa and the slow crawling No-Wave dirges of early SWANS.
ROT COVEN‘s first physical release “Nightmares Devour the Waking World” pairs two full-length albums: Phase I (initally self-released through the duo’s bandcamp) and the unreleased follow-up Phase II. Phase I builds colossal sludge riffs out of lurking death industrial dronescapes with the final track erupting into a supernova of scorching psychedelic leads and almost “doomgaze” melodicism, while Phase II descends deeper into the abyss, adding elements of unrelentingly ugly death metal to their apocalyptic scum-dirge.
Both albums explore a planet ravaged by cataclysms – storms of poison ash, churning acidic seas, and deserts that spread like a sentient organism. Colony collapse disorder on a galactic scale. A world where nature is so thoroughly gutted that reality itself starts to corrode, letting something seep in from “outside.” A hostile consciousness so massive and utterly alien that the last remaining humans begin to worship it as a god:
Hideous rituals of blood and fire. Cathedrals sculpted from scrap metal and the shattered bones of the dead. The soul slowly, inexorably, replaced by void.
ROT COVEN draws influence from Godflesh, Coffins, Abruptum, Wallowing, Body Void, Ramleh, Pain Teens, White Mice, Throbbing Gristle, Missing Foundation, Melvins, Flipper, early Butthole Surfers, Mighty Sphincter, No Trend, Einstürzende Neubauten, Lustmord and Megaptera.
Tracklist:
Phase I: 01. Blood Pours Out of the Sun 02. Feast of the Rotted Mother 03. Antimatter Halo 04. Queen of the Void 05. Those Who Worship Fallen Stars
Phase II: 01. Inverted Chasm 02. Psychological Contamination Zone 03. Accretion Disk Necropolis
CREST OF DARKNESS‘ new album “My Ghost” will be released on October 18th via My Kingdom Music and will present the heaviest, most obscure and personal music ever released by the Norwegian Black Metal veterans. Evil riffing, ritualistic atmospheres and demonic vocals will be the keywords of their 9th full length album in 30 years of career.
Today they unveil the cover of the album realised by Roy Allan Larsen and the tracklist that is: 1. My Ghost – 2. Infected – 3. The Will Of God – 4. Call Of The Moon – 5. Satanic – 6. Sacrificed To The Sun – 7. The Awakening – 8. Under My Spell – 9. The Ultimate Truth
“My Ghost” is the result of two years worth of blood and sweat, that began with Ingar working alone to mould his very personal thoughts and beliefs into musical ideas that the band can then develop together, each contributing their own ideas to the process.
Recorded at MLP Studios with Nils H. Maehlum at the helm and mastered by Giuseppe Nicolò (aka Buzz) at Lost Soul Studio, “My Ghost” is an extremely personal journey that defines the very essence of CREST OF DARKNESS.
Here are Ingar’s words about this new creature: “Structured as a ritual, “My Ghost” is a concept album, which, from an artistic standpoint, is meant to be heard as a whole. From the album’s evocative opening, the ritual leads us to its climax, embodied by the final song “The Ultimate Truth”. This is the point at which the listener completes the initiation into the dark world of Crest of Darkness, and is thus ready to enter the “Ninth Portal”. With its varied and uncompromising lyrics underpinning its message, “My Ghost” is essentially a long journey into the darkest recesses of the mind. A place where Nature’s darkest forces breathe energy and vitality into those who have the courage, and the strength, to become their own Gods”.
“My Ghost”, out on October 18th, is now available to pre-order in LP, digipak CD and in a special bundle edition limited to 50 copies from the following: https://shorturl.at/mqf9L
Writer Andrew Daly sat down with legendary Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry for a wide-ranging interview where the 73-year-old insisted that new music from the Boston legends could certainly happen.
“There’s definitely a possibility,” says Perry. “I know that Steven [Tyler] has got some stuff in his back pocket, so we’ll see. I’m currently writing stuff for a new Hollywood Vampires album, but after that… What we are definitely doing is remixing some of the early Aerosmith stuff and finding some interesting outtakes, so it’ll be fun to look at that stuff.”
Aerosmith’s last new material appeared on the ‘Music From Another Dimension’ album 13 years ago in 2012, so the band’s fans have been starved of new material. Perry, Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, guitarist Brad Whitford, and drummer John Douglas are heading out on the road for the last part of their ‘Peace Out’ tour that was halted in September of 2023 when Tyler developed vocal problems. There were fears the vocalist might never sing again. “It was pretty heavy,” Perry told Andrew Daly. “Imagine being told that you might not ever do it again. It all can be taken away so easily.” Now that Aerosmith are finally back in the saddle it looks like their rejuvenation could be made complete with new music.

The first incarnation of the band was originally founded in Rome, Italy, by brothers Diego Cafolla (guitars) and Manuel Thundra Cafolla (drums) under the name of “Earth Shaker”.
Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “Raven” and driven by a will of change, the band’s name was soon altered into KINGCROW and a couple of self-produced demos/albums where recorded under the KINGCROW moniker: Something Unknown(2001), Insider (2004) and Timetropia (2006).
In the early months of 2010 the band finished recording their new album “Phlegethon” that was released in June of the same year under the “Scarlet Records” label.
It was considered on an international level as a relevant masterpiece and was classed as one of the elite progressive metal albums of the year. It has been near the top of the “album of the year” charts in some international prog-rock websites. Phlegethon promotion lasted for about two years and a half.
During the same year, the band recorded the new album “In Crescendo” that was released in February 2013 by the American label “Sensory Records.
The band toured along with Pain Of Salvation in North America in April and May, 2013. In 2015 the band released the album “Eidos” and toured Europe as Headliners. Meanwhile KINGCROW signed a management deal with GlassVille Music, house of very well known progressive acts like Pain Of Salvation and Riverside among others.
The band recorded the new album titled “The Persistence”.
The album was released on September 7th via Sensory Records and received great reviews and ended on a lot of “best of 2018” lists on magazines and webzines.
The upcoming album “Hopium” marks another step forward in pushing boundaries remarking the restless progressive attitude of the band in incorporating countless influences into a personal sound.
Describing the band today is quite a difficult task, but one could state that the influence of different kinds of music, from progressive rock , ambient music, alternative rock and metal are all present in the music of KINGCROW.
With each release KINGCROW has taken a step further away from their original roots and is regarded today as one of the most exciting bands that Italy has to offer.

As the world-famous Wacken Open Air festival prepares to kick off, LORD OF THE LOST celebrate with the release of a live version of their groundbreaking anthem, “Blood & Glitter”, from their upcoming live album, LIVE at W:O:A, set to drop this Friday, August 2, 2024! This track, which represented Germany at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool to an audience of over 150 million live viewers, captures the electrifying energy of their Wacken mainstage performance in 2023 with exceptionally energetic camera work. The live version features enthusiastic fans, a surprising guitar riff at the end, and impeccable production quality.
After two European tours with Iron Maiden, a full show for King Charles III, a #1 charting album, and an almost completely sold-out European headline tour, the band played their first ever mainstage performance at Wacken Open Air in 2023, when they closed the festival day as “deadliners” after Iron Maiden. The set was recorded and will be released as Live at W:O:A, which is “a dream come true”, as Chris Harms stated during the show.
LORD OF THE LOST topped the Official German Album Charts with their previous albums (Blood & Glitter landing at #1 and Weapons Of Mass Seduction at #2 on the Official German Album Charts), and the band’s career has skyrocketed in recent years, bringing LORD OF THE LOST to the attention of much larger audiences and to huge stages. To celebrate the release off their new offering, LIVE at W:O:A, the band teamed up with Metal Hammer UK recently for an extra-special bundle cover with a limited amount of 300 issues worldwide.
LIVE at W:O:A blends old fan favorites (such as “Drag Me To Hell” and “Loreley”) and hits from newer releases, including the Roxette cover “The Look” from the #1 charting latest studio album Blood & Glitter (Official German Album Charts). Blümchen’s legendary version of Paso Doble’s “Herz An Herz” is another entertaining addition.
Breaking the charts and playing the main stage at Wacken are just some of LORD OF THE LOST’s many 2023 highlights – the band represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest finals in Liverpool, performing to more than 150 million live viewers, and received plenty of attention from huge mainstream media outlets simultaneously. LORD OF THE LOST even performed for King Charles III, sold out several headline shows and played many other big festival stages alongside the riveting Wacken performance.
With 15 years of band history, over 500 shows in nearly 40 countries, eight studio albums, three ensemble albums with orchestra and close to 60 music videos – LORD OF THE LOST have proven to be a creative machine that has paved its own way through the musical landscape over the years, without ever being stuck to just one genre or scene. Successor to the electrifying covers album Weapons Of Mass Seduction (2023, #2 on the Official German Album Charts), LIVE at W:O:A might well be LORD OF THE LOST’s last release as a five-piece, as the band gained an official sixth member in spring 2024. It is clear that following their busiest, most successful times as a band so far, LORD OF THE LOST is better than ever and still moving forward at full-speed.
LIVE at W:O:A Tracklist: 1 Lighting The Way (Intro) 2 The Curtain Falls 3 Morgana 4 Kill It With Fire 5 The Future Of A Past Life 6 Dry The Rain 7 Under The Sun 8 Herz An Herz 9 The Look 10 Ruins 11 Blood & Glitter 12 Full Metal Whore 13 Destruction Manual 14 Blood For Blood 15 Loreley 16 Die Tomorrow 17 Drag Me To Hell 18 La Bomba
